View Stats:
(Idea) Element swapping on elemental guns. Yes/No?
I don't know about anyone else but do you get frustrated when you want certain weapons on your characters but their like all arc or void? what if bungie have a system where you can swap the element on weapons like how you can with armour? would this be a good idea?

Nah. Loadouts would become too universally useful if you could switch elements. This was a trash system that should be left in Y1.

I'm not saying we should go back to that system but what about just using a upgrade module to change to element?

Why would I want gnawing hunger if I can switch my IKELOS SMG over to void? etc.
As pointed out there are two legendary weapons where that is their thing, and a legendary perk on kinetic weapons that makes your weapon deal elemental damage of your subclass.

also defeats the purpose of grinding for new weapons. if Bungie released a new solar 600 auto next season, but you could just make Gnawing solar, half the players wouldn't bother trying to get it, especially as Gnawing has a pretty incredible perk pool. the only way people would want the newer stuff is if they had better perks and stats, and then we're just getting into power creep territory again

That's a good point actually. i didn't think about that, so is there any way with having more elemental 'choice' while also stopping power creep?

I guess the solution is literally just waiting for them to add more weapons each season?

This is why we need a full sandbox reset every 2-3 years like we got with Beyond Light IMO. New weapons in Y3 were largely pointless because we all had top-tier choices for every weapon type in every element already. New auto rifle? I don't care because I already have gnawing hunger, arc logic and galliard, etc.

If you make it easy to change the elements on weapons then you're essentially just forcing us into a situation where we need a sandbox reset much more quickly.
