but nope, since guardians are already undead, it does make sense
just like military conscription, there is method to the madness
A training ground.
If you can live infinitely and can only be at risk when your light/ghost are killed honing your skills vastly improve combat effectiveness.
So having a fight where no one actually dies will reinforce how effective each one of those combatants are.
With the technology, you'd think they'd have developed stun guns or armour similar to the enders game series that locks up upon being shot.
But no, let's kill each other in extreme ways over and over, also how does a ghost resurrect a corpse that has been disintegrated?
Didn't our ghost search years to find our "body" to resurrect?
also, crucible is essentially a sport at this point. and because there's no real casualty, it makes it easier for guardians to kill their opponents and have proper combat experience. also, it's because they're not about to send guardians out to further antagonise other species especially when they are a lot more dangerous than how they are presented to us, players, in the game.
Unless we are fighting against guardians for real any time soon, learning habits against them will prove no benefit against other enemies, the only thing it gives us is the fundamentals.
Fighting against each race gives us better muscle memory for weak spots as their crit areas are variable, weapon understanding, splash zones etc etc, you'll learn nothing consistent against guardians as each one are unique, it's just a blood sport.
I'm probably taking this too serious but if people want to go balls deep into lore, I'll go balls deep into plot holes.
And Shin almost murdered the Drifter as soon as he found out
Gambit is the gritty, underground fight club.
So that's why Shaxx is commenting each of our actions with the voice of a sports commentator...
Yes, also why you'll hear the NPCs at the tower say stuff like "did you see the crucible last night?" every once in a while.
