The legend lost sector is dropping head armour today but the drop rate is much better from master.
I think I'm missing the point here. Would you do this so that the item drops in the slot that the master lost sector is dropping, instead of the slot that the legend lost sector is dropping? There's no difference in the actual gear that drops, so that's the only thing that makes sense to me.
Doesn't really seem worthwhile given that the drop rate is so much worse in legend lost sectors. You're better off just doing master. Even if it's taking you twice as long to get through the the master sectors due to difficulty, the drops to time spent ratio will be much better.
To put it into perspective, sure some people will 'run 10 legends and get 8 exotics or run 15 masters and get 4', but those people will be the minority, while the majority of people will be getting more Exotics from Master.
So if an Exotic drops from a Lost Sector, and goes to the postmaster as an engram, it will decrypt as if it came from the currently active Master lost sector. Doesn't matter how long you take to decrypt it, doesn't matter if it came from Legend or Master. If you decrypt it on Master Arms day, it will be an Arms exotic.
Sure, may as well do it on Master? But not everyone can handle Master (should try though!), so it is a possibility. You could even stockpile engrams in Master on one day and decrypt them when the preferred slot comes round.
However as I'm sure a lot of people noticed, if you get an engram from the lost sector chest due to having a full engram inventory, chances are it's a bugged enhancement core and not a real exotic, so that's also something to keep in mind.
I guess this could be useful. Surely you'd need to stockpile a dangerous number of engrams to be in with a chance of getting something that you want and also getting a decent stat distribution on it though. I'd be worried about losing items in the postmaster.
