How often do the expansions go on sale?
I am sort of getting back into Destiny 2. After leaving for a while (especially after they sunsetted the content I paid $100 for back when the game first came out), I wiped all my characters, deleted everything in my vault / store-items-thing, and am starting fresh.

It honestly has been pretty fun playing through the new intro quests and playing through the forsaken dlc (I had that from 2 years ago), and I am genuinely considering getting back into the game fully.

So, I honestly really, really dislike that the content I paid for before is no longer in the game, but I was thinking about it, and, with the exception of the raids (I have no friends and finding groups for someone who doesn't know what they're doing isn't as fun as it might seem), I did get about 120~ out of (a bit more than the "dollars spent : hours enjoyed" ratio I aim for). Considering that the game came out 5~ years ago, I can sort of see why they sunsetted that content and are cycling through content as it goes, and if I can get more into the endgame of destiny 2 I might pick up the other expansions I am missing.

...the thing is I do not think that the 2 expansions I am missing are worth $65 dollars. I recall seeing shadowkeep on sale around the same time I picked up Forsaken, and the sale prices seem a bit more reasonable to me than what they want now.

So, how often do the expansions go on sale?

Ah. Shame. What were the sale prices of the expansions if I may ask?

Looking at a price tracker they seem to have sales for the expansions quite often (there was about 10 in the last year), plus there's always Cd-key sites if you don't want to wait.

Don't buy from Steam key resellers. They're scum.

People buy game keys with stolen credit cards.
The developers have to refund the person whose credit card was used fraudulently.
The developers are unable to invalidate the Steam keys after they have been generated, so the criminals can still sell them.
This has literally put some small indie devs out of business.

They know this and they do nothing to prevent it.

I'm aware of this. I use G2A sometimes if it is cheaper, but I haven't used a key sight for a few years now, as i don't buy new games as often (the games I tend to buy now are much, much larger, or I have a backlog of older games that I am going through [replaying through half life 2 with mmod for example]).

Regardless, sales occur frequently enough, and looking at steam db, it looks like shadowkeep can go down to $8 and beyond light down to $25.

$32~ into a game where I will probably spend more hours than that enjoyed seems reasonable enough to me, again, since it was about 5 years ago when i bought the game, and it is almost completely different mechanically now since then.

Back when the game first came on steam, there were no rolls, and the endgame had one raid that was very, very stale after one time going through it. The variance of rolls and the extra content does make it "feel" different enough, and the price of 3 baconator combos from wendy's doesn't seem that bad in that regard, even if I do wish there was still a way to try out all the leviathan raids and other stuff.

Shadowkeep has had sales as low as 67% off.

\Beyond Light is the last expansion and only got as a low as 33% off.

I am trying it again, which is why I was asking when the expansions go on sale. I have forsaken, and deleting all my characters and vault and starting fresh with only one class has honestly been a blast.

I will never buy a season pass though. All those are, are battle passes, and the content that they wall up isn't worth it imo. I much prefer to get new quests, story missions, strikes, and a raid (whenever I can get people together or join a group for those), than having one new timed activity available for a couple of months.

But the season passes have new quests and story missions in them?
legendary edition goes on sale every now and again too

it includes every expansion and a season.

timed content (more than just vaulting content later), so it isn't worth.

It is a battlepass, and I don't like battlepasses, so i will opt out of them.

Yo I'm supper late to the party, but when do y'all think the next sale will be?
Like the creater of this post I'm getting back into the game, and without the red war campaign I want the dlc, but the idea of paying 40$ for the legendary edition instead of 80$ just sounds so much better.

I don't like the idea of buying keys like from g2a just cuz I'm a little suspicious so I'm only really interested in bunjie sales.

Thx in advance!

Check a price tracker, but iirc it's like every other month.

Legendary edition is currently on sale for the next 45 hours, at least where I'm at (Eastern U.S.), for $40.
