Why is Destiny 2 so popular if everyone hates the game?
Seriously tho, I don't get it. I jumped ship after shadowkeep.

it would be like asking crack addict why they love crack so much
the game is designed so that you play because you have to, not because you want
i managed to get out of it for 6 months, then i relapsed
we all need help

They've told us and explained in huge detail why they couldn't, You just think you know more than people because you have this "I'm against the machine, I don't like that they had to make a decision" group of people who have zero idea about how a game works.

I give them money because the content and enjoyment i get out of it is well worth the money paid, you have no evidence that they're just doing it because it's to rip you off, you seriously have zero idea how marketing works, 'nor how game development works, 'nor how the inner workings of bungie works, but go ahead and spread your false gospel that big bungie is hurting you by taking content away because the game can't handle it.

edit: "having 5 people in a company or 5000 doesn't change the fact that you can basically code anything" is the best thing i've seen from an argument like this yet, and you know more than me right...?

I literally have a job writing professional code. When devs are making excuses suggesting they have to either completely delete a bunch of stuff rather than refactor properly it's because they're just exhausted with the mess they themselves have made from writing way too much inefficient code. They rely on people being too misinformed about technology and just accepting their word because they expect everyone to be confused and afraid at them being some mysterious tech wizards.

Because code is by it's nature modifiable, there is almost always a way to make what you want to work without completely starting over. The only exception is usually when you want to make a program with the same functionality with a completely different language which isn't what's happening here at all.
Are you making code for a game like destiny 2? I'd think not, stop trying to speak for a game you basically have zero information on the inner workings of.

People love the gameplay and the universe but Bungie is a remarkably bad developer.
If Bungie was a competent developer, Destiny 2 would be far more popular than it is today.
I jumped ship before Beyond Light, like all the gamers who had a shred of self-respect. Not even Activision would try to pull the kind of stuff Bungie pulled. Infact, without Activision's support, Bungie are only able to produce vapid and overpriced content.

Bruh.

Destiny 2 is constantly in the top ten most played games on Steam.

That's literally the peak of popularity.

But you are right, Activision would never do what Bungie does.

Because that would require them to make actual good games that don't last less than a year before they release a brand new one.

It would also require Activision to stop sexually harassing their workers to the point of getting sued by the US Government.

Honestly its likely due to pve shooters being rather uncommon. It always seems like every fps entire thing is to be boring pvp these days and I think that many including myself would rather be thrown into the sun rather than play a typical battle royale fps.

stop trying to say we need to take bungo's word when they provide zero information about the inner workings of the game that's credible to make them believable, you don't need to be a master chef in exotic dishes to know when some fish dinner you ordered isn't properly cooked

Looking how games worked now and before I can see improve in my FPS and generally game run smoother. We have no clue why they did it. IMO they just didn't want to go dark and have no content for long time and to delay DLC even longer. Or maybe they are really that lazy but I don't think so. I didn't like DCV that much but I just learned to cope with it and I'm waiting for what they gonna do now.

It's just that destiny is more of a 'one of a kind game'. You don't really come across a similar game like destiny aside of warframe i suppose, there are loads and loads of looter shooter games out there. It's just that most of them are mediocre or straight up bad, hence why they get forgotten about over a long period of time.. Games just pale in comparison to something such as destiny, other games have tried to be their own thing just to fail. Take outriders for example, they tried with that game that was pretty much dead 1 month after release.
