Why is Destiny 2 so popular if everyone hates the game?
Seriously tho, I don't get it. I jumped ship after shadowkeep.

Many game developers can only dream to make it on that list one day. To be there, in those positions, day after day, week after week, is quite a bit above par, I would say.

popularity =/= quality

Neither is YOUR preference. :steammocking:

The people who like the game and have fun with tend to spend their time playing it, meanwhile the people who hate it, as with most games, tend to spend their time seeking constant validation and spreading negativity for literally no reason other than the fact that they aren't secure in their own views so they have to quadrouple down on hating the game in question and constantly seek validation from other, similarly inclined "Gamers".

People like Destiny 2 and have fun playing it. There's just a loud minority that is offended by that fact and so they try to make it seem like "everybody" hates the game when in actuality they speak for themselves and nobody else.

If Destiny 2 wasn't well-liked and enjoyed by the majority of the people who play it, it wouldn't be one of the most-played games on the entirety of Steam.

People will try to argue that "UGH IT'S OBJECTIVELY BAD HERE'S WHY___" but it's nothing but coping because they're offended that people like something that they don't.
Thank you so much. The only way to play games is playing games for fun, not for wins.

I don't think the game is hated by nearly as many people as you think.
I enjoy the game, I come to this forum a bit.
You apparently don't enjoy the game, and you too are in this forum, why?

because the Destiny 2 community mainly consists of large neckbearded contrarians who spend their time not playing the game (which isnt much time) using Bnet forums to tell bungie devs that they suck at everything and dont know anything about game development. then they go on twitter while eating more kraft brand mayonnaise straight out of the tub with a soup ladle and tell the remaining playerbase that doesnt whine and complain over everything bungie said in the last twab that theyre idiots for buying the next expansion despite the fact that these absolute whales will also buy the next expansion just as soon as they finish maxing out their moms credit cards on buying silver for the next emote that drops on eververse. the game survives almost entirely off of its worst fans, and it truly is sad because a lot of the activities are actually pretty fun despite what the people who play them most often say

They don't - Gambit is just a salt ball nobody wants to admit to liking

Yeah, there's a vocal minority that hates it. Most of us (who are playing it) like it just fine.

Also, it uses an FTP model that locks away a lot of content unless you're willing to pay, and that rankles for some people. And finally, because they've removed some older content in order to make room for newer, better coded content, and some people have trouble grasping (or accepting) the Game-as-a-Service model.

Because sadly, there's no alternative to Destiny. This is why so many people put up with Bungie's BS.
I dropped the game/genre, miss it sometimes, but definitely won't come back anytime soon if at all.

not everyone hates the entire game and some of us are having fun with it. What's so complicated?

actually my idea of quality is probably more accurate than most players, while preference might be subjective, there IS an objective difference between someone who has little or poor experience consuming an art form than someone who hasn't

one of the most pretentious (and also just straight up incorrect) things I've read on here in a good while. thanks for the laugh at least.

Destiny 2 is one of the best application of the co-op game mechanics ... and gameplay is far better than many ..

It's the only looter-shooter that is worth playing. And I say this although I hate the game more every day. (still have over 2500 hours played including battlenet days)

Purchased both DLC at full price, played the original red war and other two campaigns, then stopped playing for a bit. Lately my son and I have started playing again and are having a blast.

Games as a service first struck me as a rip off too, but after years of paying monthly subs for MMORPG's, I am actually seeing more value in the model Bungee is going after than I do the month sub fee of 15$ PLUS still needing to buy DLC like most any mmorpg such as wow or the like.

If I can have an ever changing story, and new things on the horizon to keep me motivated, I'll gladly keep buying dlc once or twice a year at 30$ a pop (keep in mind I buy 2x each because my kid and I play together). That is far less than 15$ a month x12 = 180$ a year just for subscription, let alone the cost per DLC. (WoW Shadowlands is currently 39.00 JUST FOR THE DLC ALONE!!!!!)

Destiny has its faults, but it is an amazing game. I'll be playing Destiny 2 until Bungie releases Destiny 3 :steamhappy:
