decrypting the darkness bug help

im at step 3 or 4 i dont remember of the quest but basically it said i had to go to the umbral decoder to get the quest. but when i go to the umbral decoder, nothing is there. pls help

Most games have a set quest path, you can't do this before you do that. For example, how many new players know who Cayde 6 was, or that he died in the prison, which then leads you through all the other story lines?

I ran into the same issue that you seem to have run into:
- The Decoding the Darkness quest simply is not available.
- Fix: You need to go to Europa, and do the 'Lost Splicer' into mission
- On completion, it will send you to the Helm, to talk to the Splicer, then you actually get the Decrypting the Darkness quest.

I ran into this issue on my warlock, but the problem is, we're no longer in season of the splicer, so I can't do the intro mission. Not to mention that it's account based, not character based, and I already did the intro mission on my hunter. Any possible fixes?

I'm having the same problem on my Titan. We're a couple days into the Season of the Lost and now my titan just can't focus umbral engrams. I'm not locked out from the season of the splicer content (I still have access to the servitor and splicer gauntlet), but I can't get the hammer for battlegrounds or focus anything from the current season.

There was definitely an intro mission for Season of the Lost similar to the "Find Mithrax" mission that launched when I logged in on my main character. There wasn't an auto launch for my second, and I can't find an icon on any destination that would trigger that mission to start.

I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that we need to complete the Override: Last City mission in order to trigger the starting mission for season of the lost to then finally trigger the Decrypting the Darkness mission to appear. If that's true though, that means we have to wait a few weeks for that specific override mission to appear in the rotation.

I am counting on this.. but when will the Last city mission even pop up :/ what a painful bug on an alt character

I have the same issue, the quest is totally bugged at the moment. Bungie needs to issue a hotfix

It's pathetic how long this bug has gone on in it's same state, wish I would've known about it before the new season launched because at least in Splicer there was a way to fix it. I wonder what state it'll be back in for the Witch Queen expansion

Bungie got the info, thanked for reporting it in bungie forums. Now it's registered as a bug/problem in their bug list. Not sure when will they fix this. Let's hope for the best.
