If you have the bios setting available for activating AES-NI instruction set, in theory any 1st gen and above intel i3+ that isn't a mobile CPU should be able to activate it. However, not every motherboard has fluffing BIOS options for this.

Mobile intel CPU's you get that option with Sandy Bridge (i3+ 2000's, i7 3000's) if your laptop manufacturer has provided a BIOS update that enables it. As we know though due to how certain companies love dropping support, that may not be an option...

For AMD - AES-NI is available in Bulldozer+ according to wikipedia.

So, don't just say it's not starting, provide a list of your PC's hardware, which OS you're using, and which GPU driver you have installed. As I suspect this is down to a hardware compatibility issue, so please use CPU-Z to see what CPU instructions your CPU has and what motherboard you have: https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

And please don't post here if it's just crashing in game, that's another different issue.

[edit] Oh also, what's the Exception Code you see when D2 stops working? You can find it via starting Destiny 2 and when it crashes Windows will show a window with a button that shows Views problems details.

AMD RX 570 4GB 20.11.2 - updating now to 21.2.1 (still doesn't launch)

From google the exception code is because the program does an illegal instruction.

Hopefully this is something solvable without people having to find newer hardware. Since D2 usually runs pretty well on my ancient rig.

I fully updated all my drivers today as well as reinstalled D2 multiple times and it still just won't launch. My motherboard and graphics card are older but it's never had an issue until after this latest update.

Hmmmn, your CPU has got AVX and SSE 4.2 CPU instruction sets, need moar data though to be sure it's not those instruction sets are the D2 needs to run.
