Can't join or invite to fireteams
I've been trying to find fireteams to farm nightfalls, using D2 app, but the steam id invites/joins don't work anymore. I can invite all I want, they wont get it. I can join spam all I want, I won't get into the fireteam. Is there a fix for this or am I screwed?

As Bungie is working on cross play, the Steam features "/join and /invite" no longer work as PS and Xbox do not use that system. The only workaround currently is to post your steam ID in one of the LFG threads, and friend up with team leaders.

And this is why I'd rather keep fighting to have matchmaking in more content, because doing stuff like this is beyond stupid.

Anything harder than the current highest matchmade nightfalls would be a disaster with matchmaking as has been shown again and again and again every time Bungie adds an activity that is their way of going "you don't want Raid matchmaking as much as you think you do". Such activities have abysmal clear rates, constant griefers, people getting banned for screaming slurs at eachother, rage quits, and the only people who actually enjoy doing them are the magical forum warriors that spring up to act like said pieces of content had no issues and were the best the game ever had whenever it comes time to demand matchmaking in Raids again.

What Bungie needs to do is add an LFG system to the actual game where people can set parameters for joining and have actual control over what they want the experience to be. If a group of farmers wants to make sure they only have people who have cleared it repeatedly, they can do that, if a first time clear wants to make sure everybody is up to gear spec and has mics, they can do that, if a new light wants to get a bunch of other new lights together and delve in to VoG the moment they have access to it? They can do that.

Taking a bunch of random people and throwing them together and having them try content that requires heavy coordination and constant communication always results in one of the most toxic experiences in any game and such modes always end up dead shortly after they arrive.
100% this. Matchmaking isn't the solution to the social aspect, or lack thereof in destiny 2. We need a proper opt in chat for the tower, to actually allow strangers to meet ingame, because no one, and i mean no one ever adds eachother via steam to just chat and get to know eachother. We need built in LFG, the app's a bandaid fix, a nice bandaid to be honest, but still. We keep saying that destiny is best enjoyed with friends but in my 6 years of playing this game i've not made a single friend through the game, granted i'm no extrovert but i'm still open to conversation.
And i know that's not everyone's experience, i hope others have had more luck but still, i'm most certainly not alone in this.
