Fixes for stuttering?
I disabled the shader cache, and that worked for a little while, but now the stuttering is back. I've tried playing with windows game mode off and with it on. I've tried lessening the audio quality. I've followed a lot of the options recommended on Bungie's site. I've deleted the CVARS.xml file a couple times. I've lowered my graphics with no effect. I also did the obvious ones like verifying files and restarting my pc.

So now I want to try deleting the shader cache and then turning the setting to allow nvidia to use d2's shader cache back on, but I don't know how to delete the shader cache entirely.

If anyone has more suggestions, please let me know.
I have an nvidia 1650, a 9th gen i5, 8gb ram (I know this is a little, but the ram doesn't max out when I am playing), and a 2tb hard drive.

Before I disabled the shader cache, d2 would stutter every time I changed activities. The only fix at the time that did anything was to restart my game. Even then, the next time I changed activities or locations, the game would begin stuttering again. After I disabled the cache, I could get the game running perfectly fine or with minimal micro stuttering (not the usual, full blown freezing and stuttering). However, today d2 just decided to start running poorly after a few strikes, and it had a lot of stuttering, to the point where I got kicked and then d2 crashed while I tried to sort things out.

Whenever I looked on task manager, either d2 or something else (like steam, my system process, or my antivirus) would have capped my disk usage for some reason. Usually it is d2 that caps out the disk usage.

Also, sometimes d2 runs fine but crashes spontaneously. This has happened like 3 times in the past few weeks.

As a side note, I think I've tried other fixes, too, but I can't remember what they were.

upgrade that potato... if d2 is maxing your disk usage constantly you need more ram. the more info your ram can store the less it will read from disk, this will prevent most micro stuttering. thats the cheapest part to upgrade too so you have no excuse not to upgrade that. if you are running windows 7 it will use less reserved ram but win10 will use more. either way your stutters are coming from a crappy hdd and low ram.
I've played games with higher graphics requirements just fine, like Hunt: Showdown. It's only d2 that does this. And yes, I know that I could use more ram. However, I am not currently in a position where I can get it. This has only been happening since Season of the Lost launched.

Also, disk usage as shown on the task manager isn't ram. Ram is shown as memory on the task manager. And my pc's memory isn't maxing. D2 is only taking a few gb at a time.

Well for one NEVER turn off the shader cache. The whole point of the shader cache is is caches shaders and other assets and saves them in a special spot on your computer. At first you may stutter some however if you give it enough time you'll never stutter with it on so long as something else isnt the culprit, then you would obviously stutter due to something else making you stutter.

I've just been trying everything. How do I clear the shader cache?
