In its current state trials is a free for all mode where only good players have a chance at getting to 7 wins flawless, less skilled players dont even stand a chance. Which is obviously not fun for anyone, since matchmaking pools are very small (less than 5-10K unique loggins for trials every weekend). By having a system such as clash tourny less skilled players would be able to have a fair and fun fight towards that 7 win flawless.

Trails is dead in the water.
The only reason they keep it is to cater to PVP streamers who bring attention to the game, and yest most of them are carries.
The only way to fix Trials is to remove the atrocious card based system and the flawless requirement to go to the lighthouse. Allow anyone who scrapped 7 wins to reach the lighthouse, but give the adept weapon for those who made it Flawlessly. But they would never do that, because twitch streamers will cry.
