I was reading through the comments section of the Steam update and others were claiming controller issues as well.
Good to know. Yeah, I noticed I couldn't override the "default" control config with Steam controller config options, which is why I thought it would be on Steam's side.
After I disabled Steam controller input in the properties for the game, it worked like a normal PS4 remote for the game (as if it were on console), but -- as others have noted -- it will not allow you to use custom button-mapping as it otherwise would.
and I figured DS4 also allows users to use custom-button mapping. At least that's what it showed when I was just looking through it. I haven't used it in a long time, however.
Hope it gets fixed soon! Luckily DS4 Windows now works perfectly for me with no camera issue.
If they take even just half as long as they take to fix other bugs related to Destiny 2, then I'd anticipate many, MANY months before this is fixed.
TL;DR Bungie takes forever to fix problematic bugs. They're unreliable.
Expect so as the cut-scene issue for Windows 7 is still not sorted, but DS4 Windows is a solid option until then.
I am stuck not being able to play atm anyway due to the Windows 7 bug detailed here...

They are on this one and have posted 3 updates on it so will get fixed soon'ish i guess.
Would your hardware support an upgrade to windows 10?
If so, I'd highly recommend it; it'll get rid of many OS-related headaches in 2021.
EDIT: Microsoft counts on those headaches to force you to upgrade; they're good at it -- just like Apple, the bastards. When it comes to the luxury of gaming, you need to be on Windows 10 right now. You can get away with older OS for SOME games (and even some flavors of Linux), but Windows 10 will eliminate nearly all compatibility headaches.
My PC hardware would be fine, its just I have a few items of external hardware from some years ago with no Windows 10 drivers available. They may work, they may not. I am so happy with the way my system runs and how I have set it up over the years I am loathed to 'upgrade'. It runs so smoothly and is so reliable, have Windows 10 on my laptop and while its good the Version updates in Windows 10 have caused a few headaches for me.
The 'upgrade' would be tedious as well installing all the Steam games again, 800GB or so, then 750GB of Blu-ray rips to copy back. Installing all the programs, if they all work on Win 10 properly that is. I would want to do a fresh install so the direct upgrade would not be for me, don't want a mish mash of 10 & 7 registries tbh. Although the upgrade could be used to test if its ok before I leap I guess.
I honesty prefer Windows 7 its lovely and simple, I also use the BypassESU hack so I have all the security updates as well. Plus I take a system Image every few weeks in case of a breach (best antivirus contingency imo) so I can just restore and wipe any virus off the system. I have a great collection of games still to play that all run fine on Win 7. Also some folks did the upgrade to Win 10 and the Destiny error was still there.
I'll build a new one in a few years and get Win 11.
TL;DR... I love Windows 7
Yeah I completely get it. I had a hard time finding drivers that would work for a Windows 7 laptop I had. They didn't make drivers for my sound card anymore and upgrading to Windows 10 screwed up all my audio.
Took me a while to find a driver that fixed most (but not all) of my problems.
Are they planning a Windows 11? I thought they planned to stick with 10 for a very long time.
Same with my laptop, it has no dynamic switchable graphics drivers for Windows 10 so it was a pain to sort out.
Your right someone from MS did say Win 10 was the last. Win 11 is out in October there are preview builds around atm. It has forced hardware limitations so wont work on older machines. Some 7th Gen Intel will work but some wont, so mostly 8th Gen and upwards. Ryzen 2nd Gen and upwards only as well. Also you must have a TPM 2.0 module either on your MOBO or baked into the CPU.
Crappy move by them eh.
Crappy, yet fully expected, honestly.
