Using PS5 Controller and getting Xbox Prompts.

My PS5 DualSense controller works, but I get prompts for and Xbox controller, and the touchpad does not work.

Is this just the state of things right now, or is there some way to get it to work?

Steam Recognizes the PS5 controller and every button shows up correctly in steam, but as soon as I launch Destiny 2 it shows up as an Xbox controller, and I lose the touchpad button.

Any help would be appreciated.

Until Bungie adds support for ps5 controller on PC, it is the way it is.

I think in steam big picture you can change your controller settings there and disable xbox support. i used my PS4 controller on destiny the other day and got PS button prompts.

it is indeed a big picture setting cause i use a ps controller when im lazy and not at my desk for pve.

Yeah, I have seen posts where the PS4 controller does actually get the PlayStation prompts to show up. I have not seen the same for the PS5 controller unless you use DS4 Windows program.

My Ps4 controller doesn't show PS prompts. I tried changing the settings on Big Picture but doesn't work...

Destiny 2 has built in controller support for PS4 controllers. If you have a 3rd party controller I'm not sure if it will work. But you can get PS prompts with a PS4 controller.

This is nothing to do with Sony. The "issue" here is that Steam's controller support works by emulating an XInput device which is why you get the Xbox glyphs. When you have controller support enabled through Steam it overwrites the native support for PlayStation controllers that the game already has.

If Bungie hadn't already included the PlayStation glyphs in the game files then it wouldn't be possible to display them without modding regardless of what software you were using and as an online only live service game modding isn't an option.

PS5 Controllers work with the correct prompts in D2, Rightclick on Destiny 2/Properties/Controller/Disable Steam Input. You will get playstation prompts after that.

That’s for PS4 controllers only, unless you are using DS4 Windows.
