Handcannon meta will never go away, the guns themselves are perfect for 1v1's and with the right perks will snowball. What destiny needs to fix the stale weapon meta is bigger maps.
These people who only use hand cannons though would get destroyed on any other FPS game.
Don't forget to mention the autoaim the guns have, even with a mouse.
People that are triggered by facts will reply to this.
What contribution did you want OTHER than being told to just get over it or stop playing? You didn't even ask for feedback or anything, you just came here to ♥♥♥♥♥. Shut up.
Its not a matter of getting good, its a matter of perception. just dont let it get to you.

This is what I can find on Traveller's chosen this season... It's PvE though

I definitely agree with this.
"do you expect anything to actually be done about it? if so, then you are just fooling yourself. something tells me, that if everyone started using nothing but scout rifles, or pulse rifles, or shotguns, or whatever weapon... you would just complain about those weapons instead."
This is not what game balance is. No weapon class should be dominant in majority of use cases. Hand cannons have range, stopping power, excellent aim assist and bullet magnetism. Just look at the most used weapons: https://destinytracker.com/destiny-2/db/insights
All hand cannons and shotguns. They are absolutely dominating in PvP. I want to use other weapons for catalysts, quests and just general variety but if they are noncompetitive then what's the point?
I'm not trying to be provocative but surely during the auto rifle meta people should have just tried to outplay their opponents rather than complain and get them nerfed. Surely by equipping a sniper and out ranging. (I know that this is a wild statement but I am trying to make a point)
I feel as though it is too easy to dismiss my criticisms of the meta with variations of "git gud". However I do appreciate the advice and I am trying to listen to it, especially about the gnawing hunger rolls.
According to destiny tracker https://destinytracker.com/destiny-2/db/insights out of the top 15 weapons used in PvP, 2 snipers, 1 linear fusion (which is understandable for the catalyst), the mythoclast and 4 shotguns and 7 are hand cannons. They are clearly dominate and for good reason. Why am I the one that needs to improve more to counter them while anyone with an exotic cipher and ascendant shard grab an ace of spades or thorn and t-bag strafe to victory? I feel as though more can be done to make the PvP sandbox more diverse than just shotguns and hand cannons every game. It's frustrating being out DPS'ed especially while trying unlock catalysts, do quests. It's just not an enjoyable experience.
I feel HCs need to be brought in line with the other guns. They make up 7/15 most used guns in PvP right now.
but a fired shotgun followed by a slide and punch to the face you will :D
