Question about starting over?
So I haven't played in a couple of years and logged in for the 1st time last night and was immediatly confused that I started with some new quest and no real backstory.

Should I just create a new character since all my characters now have the same light level?
Also if I delete all my characters do I lose all the materials or is that store in the account not per character?

Thanks

There'd really be no point storywise. The geniuses who want us to care about the story and lore have ripped out most of the story and lore from the game. Like, literally removed paid content. Locked away. Then they claimed it was because there's "not enough room" for the content, which is a problem no other company seems to have. But hey, Bungie is just a little indie dev. Can't expect much.

It wasn't just because of storage, the amount of bugs made it difficult to make content

Yea, you might be behind when it comes to Seasonal Story. If possible, if you wanna keep up with what's going on with this season you should probably play through last Season's story line with Mithrax, then proceed with this Seasons. Don't skip cut scenes and dialogues. Also this is a 6 Month Season so you have plenty of time to experience everything from even 2-3 Seasons ago if you really want that. So from Season 12 on. Not sure if the game actually lets you do that thou

Probably don't delete your characters. Not a good idea. Materials are account wide. So even if you delete your Hunter, your Titan and Warlock will have them in the Invent

Should I pick up Destiny 2: Legendary Edition to play through all that story content?

Legendary Edition only contains access to the current season, so you wont be able to play content from seasons 12-14 apart from the introductory missions. If you want that, get Beyond Light Deluxe Edition.

So which packages should I buy? So confused haha

Well all content is Legendary Edition + Beyond Light Deluxe + Witch Qeen (any edition). This offers everything we have at the moment.

I would start with Legendary Edition. Then if you are done you can buy Beyond Light Deluxe to play last seasonal content as well but only if you are interested ofc. Witch Queen comes in february 2022 so no need to buy it now.

Btw when you are kicked in the game quit out the mission and start forsaken. There's a bug when you start with 1100 power level in the mission kokon and get totally wrecked by everything.

No problem. To make it clear. We have season 15, beyond light deluxe contains seasonal content from season 12-14. This mainly contains events and quest, access to certain weapons etc. The normal edition of beyond light which is included in the legendary edition only gives access to season 15.

Wow this sounds like a really terrible system to get people caught up with the story.

Once you've created a character on an account it's impossible to get a truly clean slate as the game won't let you delete your last character.

The closet you can get is delete all items in your inventory and vault that the game will let you, create a new character and then delete the original one. In this case you'll keep any currency (Glimmer, Legendary Shards, Bright Dust) as these aren't physical items and you'll still also be able to pull a number of items from your collection.

That said if you haven't played in a couple of years the vast majority of gear you have will have little to no use anyway. You may as well just star a new character and play through the New Light introductory questline. If you want to catch-up on what's happened storywise in previous campaigns/seasons there are plenty of videos to choose from.
