Question about character stats, attributes and weapon normalization
Hello, I played this game a long time ago and there was one thing that discouraged me greatly. It was how silly character stats were. I didnt feel any growth of my character beasuse of it. There was no critical chance increase, no critical damage increase, no fire rate increases, all these basic RPG stats were not there. Instead there was a stat to jump higher, to run faster or to be able to throw grenades faster (or sth like that) - which became boring to me.
On top of that I remember my exotic weapon that I hunted for so long having kinda normalized damage, so that feeling of power was taken away as well beause I did differnt damage every acitivy I tried which felt awful to be honest.
The only thing that mattered was this arbitral thing - power. The more You had it the better. Thats why I left. Didnt feel any growth of my character and didnt feel my new exotic weapon to be any better than my pervious one due to normalization.

Now I wanted to go back to the game but first I must know if that is still the case. So please tell me before I make up my mind. :)

EDIT: good example of character atributes and gear stats that are meaningful (to me) as far as I can remember is Division 1 or 2.

There are some very light stat based mechanics with the introduction of armor 2.0

Mobility makes you faster and jump higher, Discipline makes your grenades recharge faster, Recovery makes your life recover faster from the damaged state, Resilience gives you more shields, Intellect makes you have your super faster and Strength makes your melee power recover faster.

Power is the most important thing, though. Power makes you do more damage and take more punishment from enemies. Stats are most important for endgame content or pvp where power does not count (or everyone has the highest power like in Trials of Osiris, so it's like not having it)

compared to stuff like mmorpgs destiny 2 has no stats like these, unfortunately

if you played in 2017 on battle net there have been alot more improvements.

But isn't really a stat numbers game. its more of a perks and tools game making the best out of what you've got there are some guys that have been able to make . the stats are the secondary focus more for min-maxing. how you add modifications to your armour and what weapons you use is your primary focus other then just the flat leveling. some exotic weapons are better in some situations then others. its sort of like your equipment is your talent tree and then that's the class you play most people dont usually run an exotic as there primary unless its pvp they run a special or heavy for more damage.

there are certain armour mods now that are now based around doing more damage such as the charged with light mods and warmind cell mods. these can increase your damage output and are really handy in a tight situations. so there are some ways to obtain more damage beyond just leveling but its not an instant stat where yay 20 more precision damage its rewarding certain play styles with damage buffs.

i would say if your looking for something like division this still isn't what your looking for. i personally often found division boring because your choice is stack all the damage and peek the enemies from behind cover.
