Turn in materials from Titan, Io, Mercury, and Mars NOW. The Legendary Shards and occasional Enhancement Cores from dismantling items are far more worthwhile than getting Glimmer from turning them into the Spider after Beyond Light launches.

I heard that we'd be able to spend them somewhere next season, but that wasn't from Bungie so take that with a pinch of salt. I'm just gonna hang on to mine and see.

Spent it now and recycle the items seems the better way. (So you will get some Enhancement Cores)

Next session they will allow you to convert to glimmer (from spider) which seems a waste.

So go to the vendors on Titan, Io, Mercury, and Mars, buy their armor now and then break that armor down and if you lucky, you have now converted them into Legendary Shards and Enhancement Cores

“Starting in Season 13, Phaseglass Needles, Alkane Dust, Simulation Seeds, and Seraphite will be no longer accepted by vendors.” - Bungie community manager, Chris “Cozmo23” Shannon.

Note that he said Season 13, not 12. So according to today's TWAB, they may still be usable to purchase those retired quest-related weapons.

the thing is, if that was the case, that would mean new players cant get the old weapons, which doesnt make a whole lot of sense if you ask me.

Yeah, even seasoned players may not be able to buy those weapons if they do not have enough of those location currencies and aren't able to get more. I'm guessing they'll let us convert them into Glimmer or something. (It has to be something as common as Glimmer because, you know.... it's Bungie!)

In any case, I'll let mine sit in inventory for now since I have little need for more shards.

Depends what Spider sells for glimmer. If you can essentially convert them to other useful resources then I'm fine with that.

I can't trust bungie :D I think I will turn them to vendors! At least have couple of days, think about!

IDK, shards are useless if you've been playing for a long time. You'd just be hoping for enhancement cores. I'll take the risk with Spider.

Apparently we missed Bungie's very detailed explanation, from a previous TWAB, of what's going to happen to the currencies of vaulted areas:

https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/49722

I think most of the questions we posted in this thread were answered under the Economy Changes section.
