I just bought beyond light but it won't let me play

I bought the game yesterday and started playing tonight but when i went to the campaign section it wouldn't allow me to play, says i have to buy the dlc which i did because i can see it downloaded in my library. Has anyone else had this problem? I tried submitting a ticket to bungie but because of covid they have decided to decline all tickets. Has anyone had this problem? What did you do to fix it?

It's crazy, I have bought the D2 legendary bundle, receipt from steam and it's gone through on my CC. Yet, it still tells me that I do not own it. I have figured out that the DLC is not installing automatically for some reason. It shows that it is checked for install, but not actually installing. I have verified my files, logged out, back in and then restarted my pc. It's a new pc and there is no issue with my ram/HD or storage. I own ARK and have never had issues with it downloading any of the DLC's, or any other game. I can't even land on the Tower or the moon, nothing aside from the Russian part, I've done 2 parts of the that campaign starting with Shaw. But that's it. I can't even join my husbands fireteam, says I don't have permission. We do not game share, and we each have our own pc's. We have the exact same PC, yet he had no issues at all. I'm literally about to rip my hair out trying to fix this.

you do NOT have to install any dlc, they are already installed all with the destiny 2 client on your pc. like i said, i have not bought beyond light but it is already installed on my pc and i can land on europa and roam around despite not having bought or installed it.

like others have said, maybe finish that introductionary quest in the cosmodrome that leads to the tower eventually.

i do not know if bungie allows the new light intro "campaign" (that short introduction mission from shaw) to be played in a fireteam, so your best bet is to finish that, it will lead you to the tower when the game starts properly.

Steam replied, and they said it is not installed on my pc for some unknown reason and they are looking into it. So, it in fact has not installed and that's why I can't play. Buying a dlc should automatically allow you to play without doing Shaw campaign, my husband and brother in law bought them the same day and they were able to jump to BL immediately. It's just some glitch that happened. I will finish the campaign in the mean time while they figure it out. Thank you everyone who replied to help me!

So everyone i fixed the bug you have to talk to the new npc and he gives you the quest, and I've been playing it

I'm getting the same issue, with a Gift version of Beyond Light - It appears the DLC files are listed as "Install", and yet I do not get into any game beyond what was the very first entry point, and nothing seems to work on the map except the starting point (it's all locked up).
Bungie does not show any purchase for my account, which is new since I just loaded this to access the gifted version.

Does the game require a certain level of completion at the base game to access the expansions? Would be a good thing to document...

I'm having the exact same issue. I'm currently just doing Shaw's mission while they figure it out. My hubs and brother in law were at the same point as I was, we all came from xbox to PC life. No crossover save either. All started from the bottom. But they had no issues buying the DLC's and playing.

You've played the Beyond Light part now? I can only do Shaw's mission on the Russian federation area. Can't even access the moon or tower.

Who is the new NPC? Shaw is the only one I see.

may seem silly but have you tried going to tower? use lift and go to zavala office.
just guess but i seem to remember having to do that

and you are right, even without buying the expansion i was forced immediately to do the beyond light intro mission, totally forgot about that.

still weird, the client should be the same for all, or the game wont know what to do if a player uses stasis for example near someone who does not have it. other games on steam have similar issues if the developer pushes out a new update but the version in steams database is not updated, as seen in one of the latest black desert online hickups. but it never happened to a select few of people.

I’m having this issue as well. I have literally beaten beyond light on my 2 other characters & on my warlock it’s saying I do not own beyond light. Shows a screen saying I need to buy the legendary edition upgrade. I’ve restarted my pc twice & nothing has changed.

have you actually finished the new light quest line in the cosmodrone? have you following that been to the tower and then done the strike the game asks you to complete? prior to that you're still effectively in the tutorial and you can't wander off and do your own thing yet.

If you have done this then ignore me and best of luck finding a solution.

if you havnt got passed the introductory missions it wont be available,i had to play it for about 4 hours before all my dlc unlocked

Had all these issues as well. Something to keep in mind…. If you just downloaded D2 and played without purchasing any dlc, you can still play the very first mission of each dlc. You know just to give you a glimpse of what you can buy. So when you do end up purchasing them, you need to talk to Variks on Europa to accept the beyond light campaign. Eris Morn on the moon to accept the Shadow keep campaign. And Forsaken campaign should pop up in your quest telling you to speak to Ikora and Zavala (only if you’ve already played the very first mission - Cayde-6’s death).

Now if you don’t have access to the moon or Europa and all the other places then you’re really new or just started a new character and need to complete the Cosmodrome Campaign with Shaw Han. When complete, finish the Tower tour mission. These are a must. When you’re done with the tour, go to Destinations in your Director and you’ll notice that you still don’t have access to the moon and Europa but there is a white bar going around the planet. That’s an experience bar. Once your played the game enough, crucible, strikes, patrols, public events…. That bar will eventually get full and you’ll unlock the moon, Europa etc…

Once you complete the experience bar and unlock the destinations you can start that very first mission I was talking about by just traveling there, it will start the campaign automatically… I noticed it even starts on its own right when you log into you account/new character

if you have not already, try steam-library -home right click dstiny properties.
go to dlc section and see if all selected.

I am having the issue as well, tried every troubleshooting step and DLC will not install
