I have no idea whats going on
I havent touched or even looked at Destiny since I played and beat the taken king, im trying to get into this but it feels like ive just been dropped into the thick of it with no idea what to do. I want to like the game but it has been a bit overwhelming to start with, what happened to the whole losing the tower thing, im just kinda lost.

70% of the content has been removed and about the same weapons have been sunset. You can still use them thou but it affects your power levels using them. Exotics are exempt. In the tower you have a quest podium next to the postmaster to get all the quests you abandoned or haven't completed yet. Go here first to load your quests. Then do the Beyond Light campaign and a Guardian Rises and you are set to go for about 2 weeks. Hawkmoon is available again, but you will be better off waiting to do this one as the random perk quest is going to be available soon. The initial Hawkmoon quest has no random perk so you will have to do it again to get the random perk. Europa is OK and most of the quests will be done there. It is a shell of it's former self this game. Hope they give us more next season or this will be a casual task from now on or a stop gap sort of game.

is it worth even getting into? Im hearing very mixed opinions from people, I have 2 friends irl, one who tells me Destiny 2 is a total waste of money and time because of the stripped content and that the ship has already sailed, while the other encourages me to get into it. I really enjoyed the first game when I initially played through on my 360, then played it on my xbox when taken king came along, but havent even so much as looked at Destiny since then, it just seems very daunting.

It all depends on what you expect out of D2. Are you looking for a fleshed out MMO, with full lore and story? Or are you into a looter shooter that can satisfy your gun-totting desires?

If former, then I'd say you're probably better off playing something else. If latter, then definitely check out the latest expansion and its new Stasis sub-classes.
