I also did this. I would advise waiting until you max the perks for your lure, however, because you can only get bonus Leviathan's Breath catalyst completion instead of extra Recon whatchacallit, and that will make you lose out on a bunch of extra stuff.
Once you do get the catalyst, you will get progression towards the catalyst each time you kill a Wrathborn boss. I basically did not use the bow at all to finish the catalyst lol.
5 additional arrows in your reserves and the ability to create Orbs of Power with multikills.
You can gain increased progress to it once it's dropped by selecting the lure option that gives you catalyst progression. You should see this as an option inside the lure once it's dropped for you.
Took me about 10 hunts, I did my 4 then hopped in with friends to finish them off because the progress is still accelerated in hunts regardless.
As whether it's worth the catalyst, no. All it adds I deeper reserves when the weapon really just needed a buff to draw and/notching speed. One of those guns you'll get, finish and never touch again.
