Spot the person who has no fluffing idea what they're talking about.
1) HHD space is a problem for those use consoles and for PC users it can be a serious problem if you don't have the cash spare for more hard drives, particularly solid state ones. However the other part of the problem you know nothing about is that many players not have good internet or have to pay money per GB or a set data cap, so having the game made lesser space means it takes less time to download or avoids hitting the cap. Or in the case of console users, means they don't have to juggle HHD space as much.
2) Then there's the build time issues on Bungie's end, namely the larger the games total size, the longer it takes to build the game for every patch. Case in point, as that before this it took often a week to build the game before they could then produce the patch for players, which they've detailed in their reasoning for the removal of content. Add in all the elements of code that need checking, bug fixes, fixes for the fixes etc content reductions thus mean way less things to check, let alone unforeseen interactions. Thus frankly it sounds like a win in terms of getting broken stuff hotfixed sooner and less issues for Bungie on their end when building the game.
3) As for making separate versions - lolwut? Dev's already have enough problem's when it comes to producing builds for PC and the 3 consoles, each one takes extra time and work to maintain, provide servers for and patch. And each new one carries it's own added costs (bar cloud gaming, since those use PC's) on top. Which is why we probably wont see a D2 for either the PS5 and/or XBox Series X unless MS/Sony pays for them. Never mind breaking the PC version away for the console version just to please the FTP crowd, which doesn't generally pay for seasons or silver
4) As for how Stasis has been pretty hard in PVP - Bungie appears to love balancing classes and supers via user testing, as the same thing happened with the release of Forsaken and it's new additions. That and it takes time for people to come up with counters. Likewise, as for Stasis being available to FTP players - when Forsaken was released the new Supers were only available if you brought it.
Now as for more general FTP issue - the FTP base has always been a taster to tempt people to buy the DLC and seasons as Bungie needs people to do that to keep the game running and developed. As the FTP population (based on every other FTP game lawls) never really invests in the game money wise unless it uses abusive systems like Gacha, time limits or loot boxes to the point where the game can be financially sustainable unless it's got low running costs.
So then if can't take this, tough sh*t, because in when it comes to keeping the lights on with an MMO, money matters more than your whinging.
Besides, it's not like that much of a cost to buy older DLC or just wait for a sale etc, if you can justify the expense. Case in point, I've brought everything bar the base game while on welfare due to severe depression, by a) saving, b) budgeting and c) waiting for f*cking sales. Although with Beyond Light I did preorder, but then D2's keeping me well entertained (and sane/able to walk, skin picking problem pretty bad this year for obs reasons) at the moment.
So many FTP mmo titles would tell you otherwise, and some were even here before D2, following
your ideas there is no way they kept the light for so long right ?
Now if you dislike FTP games fine, but stop assuming it's not a viable economic model.
PvP right now is impossible against stasis if you don't have it, Strikes are very few now considering they removed half of them, Nightfall some weeks (like this week) is inaccessible if it's a dlc strike, yeah not much left really. The New Light campaign can be done in a couple of hours if you get good drops along the way and that's the only other option apart from roaming around the world doing lost sectors/public events which get boring really fast. This game shouldn't be considered F2P and no, people shouldn't be glad that's it's advertised as one when it's not.
"I want to play the game, but I don´t want to pay for it"
You have every right to disagree but that's the truth, every ability is basically a kill if you land it because you stay frozen for so long.
Yes excuse people for no wanting to pay for a FREE to play game. Bungie could do anything and you people would defend them, why buy ♥♥♥♥ when it will get removed like year 1 stuff did. No other company ever did ♥♥♥♥ like that, Bungie deserves all the hate they get and more, make the game pay to play again and stop advertising it as free.
Yes. There were TONS of things to do on the other planets. This was almost entirely the reason they delayed sunsetting the content for so long, when it came down to it they realized that so many people still had so much to do. And the game regularly sent you to those planets for quests and bounties, so it's not like you would never travel.
I hate seeing this as a defense for removing the majority of the game, especially since we gained basically nothing for it. The new expac is a joke, you just end up doing the same crap you did before and the drops are the same old junk. Except now they're worse because you can't power them up.
Those games were designed from the start to be free to play. I have played some, if Eververse gets anything like what they have in free to play games, people here would spas out. They already have more than enough stuff to siphon off your cash. From the time it went "free to play" it's never been a fully free to play game, it's always been partially free to play, so demo might be correct. You can do this, you want more give us your money.
WAIT, you think they would notice this if it was right under their nose? You have more faith in them than I do.
