Controller Macros - Working 50/50

Please dont ask why im playing D2 with a controller.
Some days i use KB/M, others I want to chill and sit back from the monitor/TV
Please just answer if you have found a workaround for the following.

Issue - Made a hotkey/Marco in Steam for controller. Works only occationally.
So if i made DpadUP-HoldDown to use CAPSLOCK, which is mapped ingame to the Bounties screen, I can see the CAPSLOCK light come on/off but it will not go to the Bounties screen.
Something is interfering with it, but its obvious its working and hitting the key atleast.

Only way Ive been able to find a way around it was messing with Chord config
So im using XboxGuide + RightThumb = CAPSLOCK to bring up the Bounties screen.

Ive also tried setting up a button to press TAB>E= to bring up sparrow.
It kinda works but 50/50. I have to rapid double tap it.
Works for a while then its like the ingame controls take over, then will work again later.
Its bizarre.

What controller are you using? If it has XBox guide isn't that an Xbox controller, so why not just use the controller settings that are built into the game instead of using Steam? Just go to settings>controller>default, the default dropbox can be changed to custom button settings.

Using Xbox One Elite controller, so its basically a normal Xbox One controller as config is concerned.
Yes the game (Destiny 2) does recognise controller fine, all controls work.
Ive taken the default control scheme and added 2 custom buttons, but they dont always work

To get your ride out (sparrow) you need to press Back > X.
OR on Keyboard, Tab > E.
Alas this only occationaly works. Its like the game or a bug in Steams software is preventing it form working.

I dont doubt there are cheaters out there.
And I am using my controller.

So is there a correct way to use Steams Controller Configuration to successfully map a command to get the Sparrow up in one button press?
Or simular for the Bounties screen?

Or are you trying to say that because there are cheaters using other software to autoaim (which they are doing anyway) that everyone else cannot have quick access to keyboard shortcuts on the controller?

Does setting the in-game option to KB/M but using the steam controller setup make any difference than having both the in-game option and controller setup set to controller?

The steam config should override the game's settings anyway but if the in-game option is set to controller and some of the buttons you're using in steam config are setup as KB/M maybe that's creating the conflict.

Unfortunately I don't have an Elite so I'm just spit-balling a possible solution.

i did consider that but i think it behaves differently, esp with aiming.
Also from what i understand less bullet auto aim is applied or removed altogether if im understanding the DevBlogs
