If you dont like PVP or are SOCIAL dont bother with this game

i dont like PVP infact i hate it, its a youngemn's game iam older my reaction time isnt that sharp anymore, and i keep running into quests that require me to do PVP,
for example i just spend 3 days trying to finish a quest on I-O, and now it wants me to do PVP.. no thx, i just wasted 3 days.
same goes for most exotic weapon quests, they almost all end in pvp

if you are a social player like me you gonna have a harsh time in this game too, it was a 60 euro game yet it has no VOIP something ANY cheap 20 euro indie game has!!.
many is the time i wanted to tell other players: "their is a chest here!!" but by the time i typed it they didnt read it/ didnt see it, or were already gone!, in battle it is even worse, joining a event with random players, again the number of times i wanted to shout "look out behind you".. but nope!!..

i will add one more thing to this!

if you like cosmetics and like to look different, than this game is also not for you!, it sells you 5-10 euro cosmetics that you cant even use on a exotic piece of armor....no iam not kidding, a premium paid for cosmetic armor will not override a exotic piece of armor!..
why??, i have no clue,
now you buy a 5 piece of cosmetic override armor, and have to either only wear 4/5 or drop your exotic piece of armor, so the choice is either look good but be weaker, or be stronger but have mismatched armor, because .. ??? logic???
i mean its a cosmetic override, to OVERRIDE THINGS


the game wants us to buy cosmetic overrides for VERY specific weapons, that are supposed to be very rare, i have no idea why this is even a thing, limited the sales of products just to specific items! i guess whomever is in charge of microtransactions did not finish business school!..

i will give you a tip!, person who did not finish business school, and that is, if you sell armor cosmetics that override all other things you will sell a lot more of them!, and players will be happy they can keep wearign exotic armor and still look LIEK THEY PAID YOU FOR!!!....

overall very dissapointed in this game, the pvp part i can life with, but i wanted to spend some money on this game,to support it and to be honest, i did not know on what, all the cosmetic armor look horrible like made by a anime japanese cartoonist, and much of it glows to much liek it was made to appeal to 9-13 year olds..and ontop of that i have to drop my exotic chest that i spend hours upgrading just to wear the cosmetics.....really...
and i wont even start about not having VOIP, it just makes me rage, how am i gonna recruite people into my clan, if i cant dtrike up conversations??, how am i gonna meet new people, the way bungie thinks that works is "just add strangers immidiatly to your steam friends"... no!!, and on top of that, steam friends is LIMITED to your level!!!...

Exotics have their own ornaments, thats why you can't just wear general skin over them.

Exotic quests that bring you to pvp usually reward weapons that are terrible in PVE. There is no reason to ever pick last word, thorn, lumina, malfeasance, ace of spades in pve over say something like xenophage, anarchy, whisper, risk runner, witherhoard etc.... You arent missing out by not getting those pvp exotics if you arent wanting to play pvp anyway.

There IS voice chat in this game, not many use it though because clans usually have their own discord channels with better voice channels. In options you can select if you want to join team voice channel or not, i don't remember if its auto by default or you need to press a key. Mine is on manual because sometimes you run into blueberries who need some help.

Since you are new, you probably want to be social and help and point where the chests are and stuff, but honestly....they are kind of useless for the majority of people who are just grinding away to the higher power. A single blue and some shader/mats/little glimmer arent worth stopping for.


This game is actually pretty damn good for making unique appearances, everyone gets a differently rolled armor and at the end of the day they wear what has the best stats. Its actually pretty nice how you can mix and match your look without looking like a total clown. USE shaders to colour match the pieces.

Exotic armor and exotic weapons and even some purple weapons have their own skins that you can get as drops from mnemonic engrams and some missions or buy for silver (check the tabs in the eververse shop)

You really didnt give the game a fair shot and quit at the slightest misunderstanding.

This game is great especially IF you are social, like you proclaim. Just find a chilled out, non-competitive clan and play together.

In the future, they are planning on making an override appearance system so you could apply any look on any armor without having to get special ornaments like you do now (exotics excluded)

Chaperone is the only one of those weapons that is good in PvE (but slug shotguns are still shotguns and get stomped on by bosses often) because it can do crazy damage with Roadborn up, which is kinda niche at best, especially for boss damage.

Lumina could be good if players needed to heal each other at range more often, but that rarely is necessary.

In practice, yeah, the vast majority of PvP exotics are basically worthless in PvE when compared to well-rolled legendaries or actual purpose-built PvE exotics.

Many people, for some reason, look at items, in that case weapons, as stat sticks. This game isn't WoW. Using particular guns, especially very unique ones, like exotics, is fun in itself, and to be frank - the main purpose and reason of this game. There's no such thing as "useless in PVE". You can use ANY exotic or legendary (at least until sunset) even in hardest raids (just swap loadouts during particular encounters, mostly boss only), in Grandmaster NF, well... anywhere, if you're good with it and have build tied around it well, not to mention regular roaming and destination activities, quests etc.

PVP (Gambit included) is very different in that matter. Of course you can bring any weapon too, but since every joe and his mama runs with cookie cutter meta loadouts, bringing non meta guns, classes, builds and even mods will be like shooting yourself in the leg, putting you at high disadvantage. Unless you use cheats, of course. So in competitive environment you need every edge you can realistically get, which excludes biggest number of exotics from the things you can use.

People like OP are ranting because to get fancy gun they will definitely have fun in various PVE activities, they have to suffer in PVP. I got all PVP exotics and catalysts, and lack only 2 ritual guns (broadsword and luna), so I know what pain one has to get through to get gun that you'll have tons of fun with and never use it where you got it, lol. It's just ♥♥♥♥ and unfun design, no matter how you're looking at it, effectively pushing away a lot of potential long time players (and paying customers) from destiny. Just for their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of gamemode not to sink in oblivion, and online stats to look good.

I wouldn't mind doing pvp, it's just they require you to actually be good at it lol. I hope the transmog thing they are adding is applicable to exotics though, so maybe that will be fixed. Otherwise they really look bad with certain armor, especially if you have an entire universal ornament.
