another reason is preventing lazy asses to buy from the store and "show off" whay they have accomplished in game by doing ♥♥♥♥ all. i get what bungie is doing. instead of just ingame titles, you can get physical items to show off.

say you go to a gaming convention and you are wearing a couple of your hard earned emblems.... people that play D2 and actually know the emblems will know what you done and the amount of "hard work" and grinding you did.

they could raise the price to 1Mil a piece for all i care. and your statement "without hoops to jump trough" just makes me lol

IIRC it doesnt even allow you spend more than several thousand in case of it being your card being stolen and being an 'untrust worthy' purchase
If you want the gear go get the code / earn the code. Not all of it is hidden behind a code either

You literally can not pay that price. It will tell you that you cant shop if your price is too high ^^
But yea, I like the idea that to get certain things you have to prove yourself in game.
And lets be real, for most event thats the bare minimum, like completing the start mission ....
