Level advantage is not that huge of a deal.
Skill gap is, I had to do a total of 14 victories for MMXX and the Shining Armor. It was the most unpleasant experience I ever had. For every 1 win you have 5 consecutive lost games that are a stomp and makes you think the opponents are actually cheaters, when they aren't.

In the end I just gave up as I realised that this activity is catering ot the 1% of "pro" PvP players in the game.

Just stay out of Trials it's nothing but sweats and cheaters.

Trials is the end game activity for PVP, it's not supposed to be easy or for causal PVP players. get over it.

Hence the drop in numbers .

I think that's kind of the point of trials. Comp is your "fair and competitive environment", or as close as you'll get in a looter shooter where everyone has gear with different perks and stats anyways.

Shoking revelation, trials are end-game pvp activity, sweats are all over the place! Last week though was maddening, with all the cheaters crawling out to get those tasty tasty astrals lel

the PvP players base isn't that big to start with and trials is the top 1% of that at the best of times. Just avoid it, regardless if you like PvP in destiny, there are no incentives currently and cheaters are rampant.

Just k
leave it alone, only the best go there and if you are not that, you will be owned.

It's like Iron Banner, for the experts, just to expect to lose if you go.

Are there really no incentives to go into Trials right now? I really want to try it with people as I've never played it before and I'm a semi decent PvP player too.

Well yeah, and where is the incentive? I can get AR as good as The Summoner from Umbral Engram.
