How do I open the Engrams?

When I talk to Tyra it says:
Inventory
Sorry, there are no items available here.
Please check back during a future visit to see if there is any new inventory.
I'm full of these and there are other 5 in the postmaster.

those are umbral engrams and you need to take those engrams and decrypt those beside the drifter there will be a little trash can you can use

Have you completed the quest "Face the Darkness". Work on that quest than head to the Umbral Decoder beside the Drifter and turn them in. Also try Master Rahool in the Tower, he opens engrams and is a lot more convenient than going to Tyra at the Farm.

I think it's in the directory where you press E to view quests.

Ok it unlocks after you finish A Shadow Overhead quest.

Now I have another problem....
Since I'm full I cannot pick the Engram that the drifter want to give me for the "tutorial" I guess.
So I can't procede.
Do I REALLY have to discard one to pick it up and MAYBE procede?

Idk about the drop rate of these things, I'm new, still.. I hope they'll fix it because it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

If you have a second character, just do the same quest step so you can claim the Rat Man's engram to finish it.

They are dropping everywhere. so many of them that they are actually annoying.
