How much time investment to have fun?
On average how much grind and boredom vs fun and excitement is there here?

Like for example one would be going around collective rocks vs building a bazooka that shoots meteors to kill a walking mountain?

Grinding in this game comes into play only when you want to get something specific. Say there's a weapon that can have best perks, but to get it, you need to re-roll that weapon because its RNG. and to re-roll it, you need to do a quest. So grinding is doing that quest over and over again, until you get roll that you want.
With that said, unless you going for that kind of ♥♥♥♥, you don't really have to grind at all, and can just have fun :)

I would say this depends a lot on what you desire and what not.
Leaving out grinding for stat rolls, masterworking and pinnacle gear and going for dungeons, raids and entry tear events would be quite beneficial, I guess.

The more friends you have in-game or the better you are at looking for fireteams, the better.

Other than that, frustration tolerance is a thing. You can check the PVP discussions for this.

I think it's possible to play this with a low investment as well but that'll be a lot easier with some folks that you know.

I was hoping for more of a ration type answer. Like Grind 4/ Fun 5 or maybe just a percentage per hour. I'm asking because if I have to spend 3-4 hours to grind something that enables me to have 1 hour of fun, then that 4:1 ratio is defo going to put me off.

There's absolutely no way anyone except you can quantify what makes a game fun for yourself.

I don't see a way to answer it like that.
For example: if you like PVP and are fine with whatever weapon, then you don't have any grind. None at all. I mean, you can just play on. If you are trying to get Not Forgotten ( a pinnacle PVP weapon ) and you are bad with handcannons then the grind will never end. Literally. You will never finish that one.

About 500 hours for a normal person to get everything done. But from Y1 to now on my main I've played over 5k hours.

LIke, I really don't see how 500 hours will get you all the achievements, all the titles, all the weapons, armor and collectibles that are available.

I've spend a fair shair with the game and I am not even close.
Getting Redrix alone takes ages, or Not Forgotten, or Bad Juju with catalysator.

Within 500 hours on my other other account I got the majority of stuff. It takes about 50 hours to get everything for destinations (besides NF rewards)

Raids can be knocked out in 5 hours at most with a good team.

Some guns they just basically give you for nothing, others you grind for hundreds of hours collectively.

The best part of the game to me is making builds with different classes and sub classes, but the grind to get decent gear and the proper exotics etc is pretty ridiculous. And the amount of materials you need to upgrade stuff, and now the sunsetting stuff is just tedious at this point for me.

I think I started to burn out around 300 hours before I discovered some fun builds, then I bought the dlc and the seasons kept me going, but now the grind has me burned out again (especially this armor thing).

I would say it's a 5:1 ratio of grind:fun at this point, I feel exhausted after playing now lol.

the more time u invest in Destiny 2 = the less fun u getting

I'm thinking of having this game as a 2-3 hour time sink per day at the most. I just want to be sure that I will at least get 1 hour of fun out for those 3 consistently. I'll give the game a shot anyway, but I figured I'd ask first since 100 gigs takes a while to download.

You need to complete entire master nightfall to get loot so I guess 90% fun 10% grind?
Most exotics are hidden behind quests aswell so if you like to do quests and that is fun for You its same answer.
Unliess grind (repeating same action forever for chance for a drop) is not what You understand as grind.

I don't even understand what you're trying to get at. I have done like two Master NFs this season and haven't had any issues acquiring equipment.
