Destiny 2
What about this game makes it almost 100 GIGABYTES?!
Most of the planets/moons I've been to are not large, they're more like biomes, almost insulting to planets in general to say call D2's "planets", planets. Maybe there's some secret super large area which I just didn't run into in the 80 hours that I've played.

Let me know, thanks!

D2 is nothing compared to Modern Warfare which right now takes up to 250GB of space.
This game is so big because of it's old ass game engine, bloated cut scenes, uncompressed music files....etc etc

Guess there isn't a secret massive chilling area for players that I missed out on at least!

well about a massive secret area uh, there is the whisper mission which used to be a secret mission now freely available and its one of the most beautiful looking places in d2 so go check it out maybe :) (the mission area is not rlly huge but its quite big and prolly should see guides if ya gonna do it)

I've seen some pretty good spots, but not sure if I did whisper yet. I just got flooded with like 50 quests 20 mins into reaching tower lol so it was a bit disorienting. I'll check it out now, thanks!!

It's engine is from 2010, a decade old. However, other game engines are equally as old, some older.

o sike yeah that can also contribute to it i bet. I'm sure there's a monetary cost on the devs to retroactively sort that out so they're just rolling with it.

I am not sure if this is true, but they might add ALL cosmodrome D1 story missions and strikes. I do know however, at least 3 strikes are coming back.

This engine is actually from 2006, built for Halo 3

It was? I was probably thinking of when they first made the first Destiny build which was 2010.

just continuation.

Anyway, entire packaging is inefficient. Like every file in a package is aligned on 12-byte boundary. No idea why. (Not for SSE instructions, not for storage aliginging,...)

It's a triple A title with a lot of content were you expecting it to be 50gb or something? Like I don't understand these questions ever most modern triple A titles will most likely be 75gb+.

Well, mostly because it isn't a recent game. The good ol days of pocket skyrim are behind us it seems.:steamsad:
It's only been out for 4 years. But here's the thing the game has had 4 years worth of content put into it. Also iirc when I got the game back on battlenet in S3 the game was roughly 60gb or so. So the game being the current size now is literally a non-issue.
If it's anything like other modern AAA titles then lots of uncompressed cutscenes and audio files.

Which shouldn't be a big surprise to people considering CoD 4, MW2, etc were running on a modified Quake 3 Arena engine, and the engine Bethesda use for more modern ES and Fallout titles is just a modified Gamebryo engine which is ancient.
At least this game has actual content. Call of Duty Modern Warfare is over 200 gb andI swear they have an update where they add one new map, a new gun, and a couple of skins and it adds 20 gb to the game.

>content
You mean filler/bloat. Outside of the short campaigns and PvP the only content these types of games have are running the same dungeons over and over and over and over and over and over for random loot and kill x hundred of x type of enemy.
