CPU recommendations for Destiny 2 please. Tech lovers help!

Hey guys I have recently bought this gpu RX 5500 Xt I thought I would be getting 60 fps at least but in wide areas it drops harddd. So I think the reason is my CPU mine is i3 6098p I think this cpu is the reason i'm not hitting 60 constantly so I am thinking of replacing it. I don't think my graphics card is the problem since it's fairly new. Maybe my cpu is bottlenecking the gpu...

So one option that would really help me in terms of money is i3 9100f its cheap and it seems powerful would I be hitting 60 fps with that cpu? if not im open to recommendations. I have 16 gbs of ram just thought it would be important to mention.

It's 100% your CPU. I'm going to assume you won't be open to upgrading your motherboard as well. So a 6600k would likely be the best choice on your current platform

huh. I mean I know there are lot better stuff but I thought this gpu was pretty good. I upgraded from 1050ti aren't there a huge performance difference between them?

From what I've read here, nobody gets consistent 60 fps in this game because of its peer to peer networking. Besides CPU and GPU are only 2 factors out of about a dozen that apply. There is your internet service and its reliability, your router and how often you reset it, how many devices are on your network, your OS, what is running in your PC (or mac's) background processes, your RAM, your type of hard drives and their speed, and so on.

Heady stuff, but some examples might help I experience network problems, usually Beaver, about once a week. That is on a wired Verizon home network using a standard HP business laptop with 12GB i5 intel 1.6 GHz win10 pro or my standard Acer desktop with 16GB i5 at 3.1 GHz win7 pro. Both use basic onboard GPUs that I display on an old 32 inch LED TV.

I know it's hard to compare numbers. Your setup should be fine, all other factors being equal. My setup is good enough for me but probably not for many folks

cpu go with AMD ryzen with in your budget way better value for money then intel atm

As long as you're not using an ancient CPU, almost no game today is CPU-limited if you are only looking for 60fps. Even a measly i3 or Ryzen 3 from the last 5 years or so will do for any game. What's important is the GPU. CPU-limiting the GPU is something that only happens with extremely fast GPUs at the highest levels of detail at framerates above 100 or so.

Of course, if you have network issues and other problems you can still get stuttering/lag/etc.

May i ask how much ram you have? That can cause severe problems as well if you have a low amount of ram including fps drops to be honest before buying a new cpu you should just buy a new motherboard with that cpu that is compatible there is no reason to get a very small upgrade on the same motherboard.

if you buy cheap parts, you're going to get bad performance. Good parts are expensive because alot of development goes into creating high end parts. You should be looking at a CPU that has around 4-8 cores and atleast 3.5ghz of processing speed.

Your CPU only has 2 cores, and alot of other low quality features. You would only use that CPU for a desktop that uses word or for browsing lol. really i would only go for any CPU that has a K at the end, but this would maybe mean you need a motherboard that can fit that CPU. Really if you don't know much about pcs i would recommend either buying a PC outright or look at websites that custom build them for you.

and make sure you get a pc with a big case, it comes in handy for swapping out parts.

YEah i was mistaken there, For some odd reason I thought he had to replace motherboards anyways, I think i didn't research the correct processor he had last night.

well im going with i3 9100f since only that cpu is worth my money apparently. it's vastly more cheaper than it's ryzen equivelants and a motherboard for that cpu is also cheap too. thanks everyone for your comments. and when i say cheap im thinking of my own currency other currencies maybe different. anyways i hope this gives my fps the boost it needs.
