My name is a bunch of asterisks in-game

My IGN is Ryuusei023, "Ryuusei" means "shooting star" or "meteor" in Japanese. IDK why steam would censor it. IDK how to fix this. also, it happened after my steam beta updated.

Same thing happened to me - I noticed the asterisks after updating to the latest beta version. Have you tried rolling back to a non-beta version?

I haven't, but I heard people getting their names censored because of the number "1" or letter "i" in their names, which doesn't make sense. I tried cutting part of my IGN to remove the part with the "i" , and it removed the censorship. I reverted it back and it censored my name again.

Its cuz of steam beta client, install the normal steam version and it should be fine.

my in game name is nightstalker I REPEAT NIGHTSTALKER THE NAME OF A DESTINY 2 SUBCLASS AND IT APPEARS AS ************ so im very sad cuz iTS THE NAME OF A HUNTER SUBCLASS (i rlly want it to be uncensored cuz i love that name)

I'm currently having the same thing happen to me, my tag is MyD4MnBLuEBeRRy and it's set as ************ in-game, doesn't make any sense.

There are many names that are worse than "a lot of asteriks".
If you don't like your user name you may very well change it to something else.
However, I think it is quite cool.

I have no idea why my steam name Rin Hoshizora is censored, like only the last half of it. I've tried to filp it around and nada still censored. real stupid

That's crazy yo! and this all just started the other day but it started today for me randomly, I jumped out of a lobby in Destiny to notice my name changed even tho obviously on my profile shows my name no problem? lol weird.

The solution I found was to revert your steam back to the original launcher instead of the beta one. hopefully this gets fixed soon so I could revert back to beta. the problem just doesn't make any sense.

Edit: welp now the normal steam version seem to bug out after todays update

Just happened to me too. Completely inoffensive name. This is super annoying. You shouldn't have to change your Steam name to get around this. Thats really lame.

Bungie says it's a Steam problem. Steam says it's a Bungie problem. Nothing is being done to fix it.

I have check every game I use this IGN for, they are all fine EXCEPT D2. Therefore I say it's a Bungie problem cuz if it where Steam, why is D2 the ONLY game effected?
