Need help with the Invitation quest

Can't complete this step:

6) Complete the Glorious Harvest bounty by generating Orbs of Light, earning experience and completing a Challenge.

As I don't know what a Challenge is, and guides seem to be outdated. Can anyone point me to one of them pls?

Challenges = the weekly challenges for the vendors/bounty people at the tower.

ie ADA-1, Banshee-44, The Drifter, Zavala, and the Crucible guy.

Pretty much the complete 8 bounties in a week things that appear when you mouse overthem.

Also Flashpoints are still a thing. They are Weekly Challenges for doing activities on a certain planet each week. This week it is Tangled Shore (until reset tomorrow). Last week it was Earth EDZ. You can see which planet has the flashpoint by mousing over the reputation vendor for the planet on the map.

It would help if someone were to post what they did in the last week or so to complete this infuriating challenge.

I think you're mistaking public events for flashpoints. The flashpoint this week is on Nessus, hover over the blue flag on the Nessus map to see the requirements. for completion. The same applies to any challenge, mouse over the icons on the map to see the requirements, they are always denoted by a gold circle.

IT SEEMS TO HAVE RESOLVED ITSELF. I QUIT IN FRUSTRATION AND ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER I LOGGED IN AGAIN AND SUDDENLY ON NESSUS THE ICON FOR FAILSAFE WAS FLASHING. WENT THERE AND THAT UNLOCKED IT. SO FLASHPOINTS DO WORK BUT I HAD NO INDICATION THAT I SHOULD GO TO SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE VENDOR.

That's because this week Nessus has a weekly challenge of random completing activities. Do a few patrols, adventures, or public events and you're done.
