How do you get golden weapons?

How exactly can you get golden weapons in this game?

Do I only get them if I do Nightfalls / raids?

Also, does PvP give anything? Or do I need to do PvE to get the good weapons?

Go to whereisxur.com. Also random drops, you have better chances doing very challenging activities.

The 950 nightfalls have a pretty good exotic drop rate.

Also if you have any quests that are yellow they reward you with an exotic

:Xur accepts Legendary Shards. The only guaranteed way to get Legendary Shards is through dismantling Legendary weapons/armor (The purple items), so you should definitely stock up on a few of those. You sometimes get them from decrypting Engrams received from the Vanguard and the various factions.

Edit: you can get an exotic weapon/armor drop from ANYWHERE. :))

legendary shards, atop from what ABX said above, u can also buy legendary shard in tangled shore, the fees rotate daily, usually 1 legendary shard is 5000 gleam, u can spam fit ur dozens gleam there
