Destiny 2 download: after a pause it restarts instead of resumes
I'd left Steam downloading Destiny 2 for the last 4 days and it was showing as just over 1 day remaining (approx 80%) but about 2 hours ago my internet connection dropped and I was disconnected. Had to restart my router a couple times before I got reconnected, but then Steam didn't simply resume downloads it restarted the Destiny 2 download! Now it's showing Time Remaining as 3 days 16 hours and 0%, sometimes the Time Remaining jumps to just over 4 days! Tried looking for a solution but the Steam Support is just a huge pile of garbage, try searching for Destiny 2 and get a ♥♥♥♥♥ load of DOTA 2 results! No option anywhere to actually submit a Support Request or anything directly to anyone at Steam. Just loads of useless Support articles that have absolutely nothing to do with my actual issue!

I've checked my Steam install and the "\Steam\steamapps\downloading\1085660" folder is still there with a bunch of Destiny 2 files, checking the properties for the "\1085660" folder shows that it contains 1,012 Files, 4 Folders with a size of 81.2 GB (87,230,452,065 bytes).

At first I thought maybe Steam is just doing some sort of verification of the files in that location so it can resume the actual download, but now it doesn't seem to be doing anything other than redownloading the entire damn game! It's as if Steam just isn't seeing the files that have already been downloaded.

Otherwise, you may have to restart from 0%.

I did wonder if that could be what's happening, I'm just gonna leave it for a while and see what happens. But if it has actually restarted the download from the beginning I'm gonna be wanting to have some very serious discussions with somebody at Valve!

Tried the "solutions" posted there, didn't work! :( So after downloading over 80GB over almost 4 days I now have to start all over again because of some screw up with either Destiny 2 or Steam!

How awesome to see actaul Bungie staff here helping players to solve problems ..... oh wait, they're not doing that! :( Guess that shows just how important players are to Bungie doesn't it? ZERO support from either Bungie or Steam, yeah, not exactly encouring me to want to spend any more of my money on anything they create anymore! Well if Bungie don't care and don't want my money guess that means I've got more to spend on those devs who do actually have real customer support!!!!!!

I am on my 2nd download now. The game (80gb) of it is in its game folder as it was already downloaded. Now steam is DLing it to the downloads folder. Oh well, free game...

Much the same here, wasted almost 4 days on downloading this game so far and now I have to start over and spend another 3+days redownloading it all over again! If it screws up again then Bungie can feck off and I'll be demanding a refund from Steam!

So, FOUR days later and the Destiny 2 download seems to complete, and it shows a "Download paused" on the Downloading page so I switch back to Library and Destiny 2 is showing as "Installing". OK, so I return to the Downloading page and now Detiny 2 shows as "Validating" so I leave it for about 15 minutes. Come back and once again it has restarted the download for the THIRD FECKING TIME!!!!! I've checked the "\Steam\steamapps\downloading\1085660" folder and it's EMPTY!! Checked the "\Steam\steamapps\common\Destiny 2" and it's got 3 folders but ZERO actual files!

WHERE IS VALVE AND BUNGIE SUPPORT? Why aren't they responding to these problems? I've wasted over 8 fecking days on trying to get this installed and it just keeps restarting shortly after the download hits 100%. WHERE DO I GET FECKING SUPPORT FOR THIS PILE OF GARBAGE??????

dont know if this is still viable but apparently turning off automatic updates has worked in the past for people with this issue

Thanks very much for pointing me in that direction, I'll certainly try that if or when I decide to try and install Destiny 2 again. After two failed attempts and wasting almost 9 days waiting for Steam to dowload Destiny 2 twice I'm not rushing to try a third time because I've got a whole lot of other things to deal with that I'd put on hold while Steam was downloading Destiny 2.
Same Problem, downloaded 70 GB and now is all unavaible to continue, it starts from 0%
