Puzzles are things you see people playing while walking through the park. The obsession with including them in combat games has always baffled me.
Can you imagine a war movie where an elite squad of soldiers stops in the middle of a warzone to solve some rubik's cubes?
"Time out! Weapons down. We have to work on our teamwork and solve this puzzle together to remind everyone they are in a squad."
The point of the raids is to be challenging. The way some devs go about it is introducing new mechanics that require communication to perform. The only other way to increase difficulty would be to make some AI bullet sponges and in my opinion one feels much more rewarding than the other to succeed in.
When was the last time you saw a Soldier throw a purple shield, shoot with a Burning Golden Gun or fly in the air with a Burning sword? When was the last time you saw a genuine war movie where the soldier was resurected by Flying robot cube with magic powers?
And maybe you should sit down and do an actual Puzzle. Raids are supposed to be tricky, challenging and certainly not like a strike or brain off material.
Firefight is always a puzzle of how to fit more bullets into enemy's skull while minimizing your own exposure to bullets.
But this isn't an old war movie, it's a game and if done right, adds a layer of gameplay to a game.
Never play FFXIV if you don't like puzzle based raids.
Raids arent for everyone and are end-game content for a reason afterall. If it would be simply go-shoot-go everyone would be doing them and grind wouldn't be as easy I guess
