what's the point of the cerberus +1 catalyst?

apparently it's a fire mode with a tighter, close range spread, when I was initially grinding to get the masterwork I thought "ok, this will be a more accurate spread to make up for the lack of the cerberus +1's versatility", well turns out it's pretty much identical to the standard shots, but with a much slower fire rate, I mean, bungie has made some pretty crappy catalysts, but they'd never make one that's entirely useless, I must be doing something wrong, anyone mind clarifying the purpose of it's catalyst?

Go to a wall and shoot in each mode. There is a noticeable spread change.

I just double checked and you're right, third edit, I just one shot a couple people in pvp, much more useful than I had thought

pretty much Cerb +1 is half shotgun, its a ok alt ability but only if you know how to use it, my go to gun is the Cerb racked up 2k kills with it so far in pvp ;)
