It will work a bit differently, the current season pass content said to be gone after the season ends.
So... you can't really compare them.

Isn't progression limited w/o season pass? Like you can get only level 30 out of 50 without SP.

Not to mention all new cosmetic items have been tied to season passes, from what I've seen on battle net client.

Seasonal Content will not remain in the game, YEAR 2 Annual Pass Content will remain in the game but Year 3 Seasonal Content will not

The way the new season passes work, if you get them after the seasons end then you're literally getting nothing at all.

theres a lot more exclusive exotics that you can only get through seasonal quest ONLY DURING THE SEASON. they must have thought ahead

Yes, Bungie monetized the progression system so unlike other games that sell you more content so you have something to do, Bungie is selling you the ability to progress faster than other players unwilling to pay. It's a clever system to depart suckers from their money. :D

The annual pass IS NOT FREE in general

People who bought FORSAKEN - likely for 40$ - get it for free

Forsaken + annual pass is only 25$ atm anyway

They can take my money, I for one like the battle passes, and there is a lot more listed on the season pass Battle pass track than the FTP one.

And that's alright, cause my 8 year old will love ranking up doing the same 3 EDZ public events, and getting some battle pass rewards, but he does not need to have the season pass, he does not play enough to justify it. I do, and I want more. I want more loot and I want more D2 content, and I want Bungie to keep making more D2, and if that cost me an extra $5 a quarter I aint going cry about it, cause thats cheaper than every other MMO's model.
