Deleting Umbral Engrams for non season pass owners

I got burned out in Season of the Worthy so I decided to skip Season of Arrival. That doesn't mean I won't be playing Destiny 2 AT ALL. I'm still going to play it a little bit to get to the current soft cap so I can do the new Prophecy dungeon.

Problem is, I can't get dropped legendary engrams or Prime Engrams because I'm full on Umbral Engrams, and since I can't use the Prismatic Recaster or the Umbral Decoder from Drifter, I can't get rid of the Umbral Engrams at all. It's definitely going to affect the drops I got from activities.

Will there be an adjustment or change for this?

I heard that there will be a patch, but unless I got it wrong, only affects those who haven't got the Umbral Engram from Drifter, which I already have. I'm at the quest step where I need to use the recaster to focus my Umbral Engram, but since I don't have the current season pass, I can't complete this step and I can't delete the Umbral Engrams I have

You can focus Umbral Engrams without the Season Pass. I've done so on all of my characters. I don't know how it behaves with having full engram slots though, but you are able to use it without the Season Pass.

Yeah, you can't, no "discard" prompt appearing when you hover your cursor on the engram

There is still the workaround of logging in on a second character and pickung up the Engram there, that should advance the Quest for your main character as well.

Some people are daft. If you haven't unlocked the decoder you can do ♥♥♥♥ with umbral engrams.

That explain things, I just needed to focus that one engram drifter gave me to unlock the decoder

I'm stuck on the same thing as many others; only one character made but I had full Umbral Engrams before Drifters Umbral tutorial... so I can't claim his freebie Engram in order to unlock the decoder to any of them.

Unless I make a 2nd character I think I'm stuck waiting for a patch/fix.

That option doesn't show up for me. Probably because I didn't grab that umbral engram from the Drifter... which I can't get because my inventory is full of umbral engrams. Awesome.

Pretty sure making a second character takes 10 minutes.

And why in gods name dont you have all 3 classes as characters.

Well according to the Hotfix 2.9.0.1(which is now) patch notes:

*UPCOMING RESOLVED ISSUES
Players with a full engram inventory of Umbral Engrams may be blocked from completing the Season of Arrivals opening quest.
