ive seen others use it. is it safe? will it get me banned if i use it? can bungie add something like it to the game itself so i dont have to use something like this instead of traveling so much?

DIM only uses the Bungie API to move stuff between your characters and your vault. This is allowed by Bungie, and they even encourage developers to build apps like it.

Yes it is safe. It uses Bungie's API to move items in between your vault/characters. You can use the Destiny companion mobile app if you prefer a first party solution.
