Go to drifers office, in there should be a machine that should allow you to use these engrams and to complete the mission.

Yeah there is a workaround.
1. Go onto another character.
2. As soon as the game loads you into Io to begin the story, immediately return to orbit and go to the Tower to see Drifter.
3. Drifter should have an umbral engram available as part of an abandoned quest. Take it.This should progress the rest of the quest across all characters and save your soft-locked character.

Hmm okay this is odd... maybe the eververse store is able to unlock them? Like with the Bright and luminus engrams? Else it might be bugged and would need reporting to bungie. And if thats needed then bungie is on a streak of release failures :/

You can definitely use the machine next to drifter without doing the quest, I did.

This is 100% the solution, someone on Reddit had told me to try this and it worked fine for me.

*shrugs* so.... once again stumpie released something bugged to an unplayable point >_> this doesnt bode well for the sunsetting and other plans they have... Seemingly they cant even release something without it being bugged from the start as this is the standard showed in the last 3 releases or so

it's a very minor bug with an easy workaround and will be fixed soon, no need to turn this into yet another complaint thread. "Unplayable" is an enormous reach lmao.

Come on... stumpie is so called a tripple a dev studio... however they cant do anything right from the start for the least 3 releases that i have personally experienced. It sickens me to know how incompetent they seemingly are. At this point it doesnt mater how easy or imposible a fix might be, its yet an other fail ontop of others. They focus on content as that translates to money best simple as that. An error like this could have been noticed simply by testing yet they once again released and have go step in to fix the mess they created... An tripple a developer studio... No longer. They fall fast hard and deep.

Wow, you're really worked up about a minor bug that you didn't even experience. It's ok to take a break from a game that's apparently getting on your nerves so much for the better part of a year. Or maybe even move on to a different game, I hear Anthem is developed and produced by a triple A studio as well. All triple A studios make perfect games except for Bungie, right?
