Anyone know if you can get the Gambit ship (Drift Apart) without doing the Malfeasance quest?
As title says. I know how to get it, but i'm unsure if the exotic quest needs to be taken/completed for it to have a chance at dropping. And that exotic quest is tied to Forsaken which I don't have, so if it's impossible without it I'll just return to Gambit Prime instead wasting my time lol

It never dropped for me until I bought forsaken. I would therefore conclude that you can't get it without forsaken.

Well that's rather disappointing to hear. I was looking for a ship that isn't a generic one that Amanda sells, and thought Drift Apart looked unique and seemed acceptable to grind (unlike the one that requires making 100 black armory weapons).

You can get the ship "A Thousand Wings" through the Whisper Quest (Heroic version).

Everyone uses that tho, it's so basic

100 frames is a grind for sure, but remember that you can grind frames quite fast once you have forged them all, doing 1 frame takes like 10 minutes

Only Forsaken and Dredgen

I wouldn't say it's basic. Rather, it's a good designed ship that is popularly used.

Eh, I guess, too bad you can't shader it. The taken sparrow looks much better btw, I recommend getting that if you want to keep in the theme of taken

If the Whisper ship doesn't please you, then your standards must be impossibly high. If you still want some advice however, there is a pretty nice ship you can get as a random drop out of Rasputin's caches on Mars. It's basically the dropship you sometimes see in cinematics, but with a fancy paint scheme. Nothing flashy, but looks pretty good with shaders.

You can look here - https://www.light.gg/db/category/42/ships/ - there are many ships for d2, i am sure even you find one to your liking eventually

If the OP wants to be unique, how about using some of the plain white ships Amanda sells? You never see anyone use one of those.

I am currently using one of those white ships haha, when I mentioned unique involving Drift Apart I meant it as appearance-wise it seemed fairly different compared to how most of the other D2 ships look. Sort of reminded me of EVE Online Minmatar ships
