sunshot catalyst is one of the rarest Sh*t in D2 IMO, you can get it from strikes or PVP, mine accidentally poped up nowhere while playing crucible

fastest way is second encounter of LW, kill all the taken thrall, die, repeat= catalysts done for days!

Alters of Sorrow, most definitely gets you variety and completes quests, missions on moon, and triumphs.

Ok, this is how you farm it, and farm any other catalyst taht has you needing to kill lots of things.
Go get a crap ton of raid banners, about 50 of them. Get the Ophus rigs, or what ever they are called, and go top tree night stalker, trapper. Then go to the last wish raid solo

Put in wish 4, to go to the second encounter, which will be started when you walk up to and open the big door. As soon as you do a bunch of thralls will spawn and they are always super clumped up, so have at it. Blast the first wave, maybe the second one if you feel like it. Kill your self with a grenade launcher, respawn and repeat.

Now i dont remember the requirement for sunshot if it was just kills, or kills with the explosion, so this part might not work, but. Normally for this farm as soon as the door opens you shoot your tether right into the door and tether every thrall that way they all die really fast, this might work for sun shot? idk how bungie registers tether kills and sun shot catalyst, but this method is great for farming any catalyst that requires you to just kill things. I was able to farm out both the huckleberry and eriana's vow catalyst in less then 30 min of doing this.

Also pro tip once you get the sunshot catalyst, if you want memes in open world/low light content. Run sunshot, wrath of rasputin, and global reach. You basically make sun shot go super nova. Take it to the alter of sorrow and enjoy just clearing out massive waves like its nothing.

THey fixed that area a while a go.

there's a mars adventure- the Hephaestus one irc where you can farm-lots of thrall, its where i completed my catalyst.

- as long as you die before around 80% -so it doesn't complete before you reset, you can keep doing this for as long as you need to
