Performance issues on Destiny 2
Hey guys,
I recently upgraded graphics card from 2060 to 2070 super, main idea of doing so was to reach 240fps in mid/high settings @1080p res (could reach 160-180 with 2060). Thing is, this thing will not give anything above 130-135fps even on less demanding maps. Here comes what i consider weird, no matter what settings i choose either ultra or lowest, i get the same fps, i can even get lower fps when using lowest settings, i raised render resolution setting to 140% and would still provide same performance, so i went ahead and checked gpu and cpu usage, and what i found out is that lowering the graphic settings to mid/high will only make the gpu work less, it works at about 40-50% (cpu works at 30-40%), while the 2060 used to keep it 80-90% usage and provide excellent performance. With the 2070 super i even get 90ish fps drops which was not happening at all on 2060. Ive made sure dhcp is enabled for ram, made sure nvidia settings are set for performance over power saving, reinstalled drivers and evem reinstalled windows. Gpu is fully working on gta v, unigine heavem and furmark using 99% of the gpu. Im very frustrated at this point, I would appreciate some assistancr with this. Mu setup consists of the following components:
Ryzen 5 3600 with asus prime pro x470 mobo
Rtx 2070 super
16gb ram 3200 cl16

This is while playing crucible btw

going from a 2060 to a 2070 super and running at 1080p would result in lower gpu usage overall. You aren't pushing the card that hard.

Thing is i did try a friend's 2070 on my pc before switching to 2070S and it easily gave 190-220 fps, for some reason i cant get this card to get any higher than 130ish

why not, any1 has any idea of what I could do about this? I have to actually put a higher render resolution to reach 140fps which shouldn't be the case?

that would have been my first guess when installing any new hardware.

Make sure win10 is fully up to date, and perhaps even manually delete any nvidia/driver related folders and reinstall from there?

I know using the recovery "reset" quick reinstallation options win10 offers now can leave a lot of crap behind also.

Other than that, not sure sounds like you've tried everything.

I actually did format my ssd to then cleanly reinstall windows, ive also used DDU to clear the graphics drivers, updated bios, did a little overclock to the cpu, nothing works :(

Meanwhile im sitting here with a 2060 and im getting 240 fps np, just got the 240 hz g sync monitor so i had to try it out. I think you need a beefier CPU if you wanna push 240 consistantly with max settings.

Would you mind telling me which components you have? And what settings? I could not manage to push 240 with the 2060, or do you actually have the 2060 super? Thank you for your response

Destiny 2 won't do 240 fps doesn't matter what you throw at it.
But higher than 130 is possible if you use a different cpu.
Destiny doesn't like ryzen

Hey there, i did manage to get 200-220 fps with a borrowed 2070 which is why i went for the super one, but cant get fair gpu usage when lowering game settings

Thanks mate, would you mind telling me what settings u got on D2? And is your processor overclocked? Also, whats the usage of your 2060 and processor while playing D2? I think i might just roll back to 2060 since buying a better processor is not a viable option for me at this time

Sounds like a card /driver problem , test it on other games ? IIRC ryzen is bad choice for this game

Did you check your BIOS to make sure the bus interface for your card isn't explicitly set to PCIe 1.1 or something?

Yes i even reinstalled windows in the case older files could be messing around, other games do take fair use of gpu 90-99% average while destiny will barely use 40-50 in mid/high settings, 50-70 when maxed out,and will manage to get 99% usage only when uprising render resolution to 150%, weird thing is i had the 2070 (non super one) with this same cpu and it would easily give me 180-240 fps on mid-high settings with a fair useage of 80-90% of the gpu which is why i went foe the 2070 super, (2070 was a borrowed one) i have alreadu returned the 2070S, im downgrading back to 2070 in hopes thatll do better
