Destiny is basically Borderlands with a sprinkling of MMO. Just play Borderlands if you don't want the MMO part. Destiny has never been and will never be an offline game.

There are a bunch of cosmetics that you can buy for real money. There are also some paid expansions and seasonal content. The two aren't really related or comparable, so I don't really understand what you're asking.

If they actually give players ownership of a game they bought, they might still play the game after the company closes the server and pushes out a new title, meaning less money squeezed out of players. Can't have such a nasty thing happening to the poor companies, of course. I mean, people actually owning an item they paid for? God, that's so 2000s and reasonable.
