A lot of it you can just find by exploring and playing. If you're a Free2Play person, just getting all the dlc whenever you can is fine enough. You do not have to spend money on eververse if you don't feel the need. You'll just be gated by certain items/weapons cause you don't have the required DLC.
None of the stuff you can buy affects gameplay directly. This is not one of those mmorpg's with cash shops where you could buy top tier sets with maximum upgrades if you have enough money. Best gear locked behind challenging quest, raids, seasonal activities and so on.
Even compared to Warframe with in game shop which is majority of time savers, skins and so on is like million times more pay to win than one we have in Destiny 2.
Microtransactions are cosmetic only.
There's a season pass every few months. Buying them gives you access to certain activities and weapons, kind of like a mini-DLC
Like currently we have the "season of dawn". Where you have a season level you aquire experience for. one row is for non-season pass holders, and other various items that are behind season pass**Cough *Fourth horsemen next season **cough** as well as a lot of goodies that you can aquire leveling during the season.
Currently being a relatively loose word since the season ends in a few hours. XD
