Examples of non generic Sci-fi: Star Wars, Star Trek, WarHammer 40K, Mass Effect. This game just tries to be everything and fails at these things

You realise you can just enjoy somethign for what it is? Destiny doesn't try to be "the next thing in scifi". It is an MMORPG based in a scifi universe that lends way more from games like world of warcraft than star wars?
The opening missions might be a very simple "go here and shoot that" that is true. But once you spend more time in the game and get to the aspects that require teamwork like Nightfalls, Pit of Heresy and Raiding, maybe you'll udnerstand why people like playing Destiny.

Oh and pls don't google the very 1st thing that was ever created to later on become sci fi genre precursor. Everyone knows Star Wars was made in the 70's and that is what made Sci fi what it is today. The raids and dungeons of Destiny r pretty extraordinary. They give a really interesting take on Sci-Fi.
