Iirc, they're Legendary rarity, so when you check the properties, you can use items you have at a higher Power level to Infuse them and put them where that item was at the cost of an Upgrade Module, which you can get from Banshee-44 using an Enhancement Core and a few other currencies. Might take a bit of grinding, but, well, that's Destiny 2.
You can keep doing that as needed. I've been using the Dreambane stuff from last season, adding a level or two each time I got something better and had the Modules to use for one or two more Power per piece. It can get expensive, but I've put so much into my Warlock Band that tossing it would be a sad day for me. :'(
6 months ago I would have made a joke about that, but considering one of the last things I remember doing in WoW before I stopped playing was transmog into a REALLY early PvP set I had access to for some reason for a unified design, I get it.
You can run 3 characters through his dailies every day to get 90 shards a day that way. You can also run around harvesting dusklight resource nodes at 1 per or treasure chests at 1-3 per. You also get a few shards from Lost Sector chests and public event chests.
My recommendation for early on though is to open the map and look for the little plus sign markers scattered all over. Those are the markers for the region chests and each region chest should give quite a few dusklight shards. You only get to open each chest one time per character though.
If you are having a hard time finding a chest near one of the markers (they can be somewhat hidden) you can just do a browser search for "destiny 2 edz region chest locations" and you 'll probably find a few dozen videos showing them all.
The trick is to have ghost shell with those modifications I have listed and spend a lot of wondering around.
