Galloping knight price
I love how they jacked up the price for this monty python gesture so that weekly bounties alone wont be enough to get it. Bungie knows people are going to want this, and by jacking up the price, they are discouraging people from grinding the dust so that they may consider buying it with real money. Subtle, bungie.

EDIT: I am going to stop replying to this discussion. Nobody is open for legitimate debate, and instead opts for repeating the same bottom of the bin arguments everyone has heard ad infinitum; "They have to make a living somehow", "dont like it dont buy it", "its just cosmetics", "thats just marketing". People like you guys are the reason companies like EA get away with all the bad things they do.

This type of stuff is usually 2-3k dust, which on its own is pretty bad. Galloping knight, which is just a gesture taken from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, is the only gesture that costs 4k so far. The weekly bounties will not be enough to get it, and the random bounties only give 5 dust. Bungie knows that people want this gesture, for some its just for collection purposes. For others, its because they saw the movie. The price of it will discourage people from grinding it out and instead buy it with silver. This is a classic scummy business practice.

errrr weekly bounties give 3x2x200 bright dust per char, 1200 per char, x3 = 3600
considering i being doing bright dust farming on two vendor on 3 chars and saved approx 9k dust, it's not bad, remember the ornament on the winter, i could even buy two and still have 9k now

It is pretty bad for the people who end up having to spend that 3600 on all of the missable cosmetics from the previous reset. Or new people.

If somebody doesnt have 650 dust before doing the weeklies, they have to resort to grinding the random bounties which give 5. Still a really bad grind all for 1 item. If somebody spends time grinding random bounties to get this, they wont have any dust left to get the other items. That is, unless they want to farm more bright dust.

Isnt it strange though that this ornament in particular is 4250 bright dust? I dont remember any other costing this much. Because, like ive said, they are jacking up the price for a desirable item to encourage people who didnt have the dust beforehand to pay up to skip the grind.
Dont defend this behavior from Bungie

There it is, I was wondering when I was going to get the "it's just a cosmetic" argument. I like the "go cry" part.

For a very large majority of players for any game, cosmetics are a large part of their enjoyment, I know it is for me. These game companies know this, and put them behind paywalls. It clearly works, since bungie gets most of their revenue from eververse. Like the concessions at a theater. The prices don't help either, I could get 2 skins in destiny, or an entire game.

it does not matter if it is just a cosmetic, I would argue your argument is the petty one here

It's probably worth double because it's not only an exotic emote, but also a multiplayer emote. It provides more value since it engages more. You're basically buying something for one and another person to use it with you.

I think it's an interesting idea, but there's not way in hell that I'd pay that amount for it. Too much grind for something that doesn't offer much, IMO.

Other multilayer emotes didn't cost this much. Probably because this one comes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Captain America would be proud.

The demand is what determines the prices, if I have a product that I know will sell well, I'll raise the price, it's not scummy, it's just marketing.

Personally I was interested but not for that price 👎 no sale.

In this case though, it's not just raising the silver price, it's raising the free currency price to make people want to buy it instead and skip the grind. Unless that's what you were saying

Scummy marketing is a thing, bungie doesn't need this surplus of revenue. With their 72M net worth and the $100 investment from netease, they can keep the game up with dlc sales alone. And eververse obviously doesn't stand to fund future dlcs to make them the best they can be. We have been getting mediocre dlc after mediocre dlc

The prices in eververse are insane, but instead of lowering them to a much more reasonable price, they keep pushing this monetization at gradually increasing prices because it makes them a LOT of money. And money good

Extra bounties give 10 dust per bounty, not 5

You're preaching to the choir, unfortunately this is the gaming market and it has been like this for many years, they are designed to influence players to keep playing for as long as possible, cosmetics, achievements, digital money, FOMO, communities etc, they release dopamine which is what that "sense of achievement" feeling is.
That's not scummy, it's marketing, exploiting human nature, same reason there is 50 pizza shops near your local pub crawl.

Imagine complaining about not being able to buy every useless cosmetic in the game.

Well of course not because I personally don't have a consumer base but bungie does, they evaluate the information and know the ♥♥♥♥ will sell at a higher price, people have been waiting for it to sell for bright dust, they probably looked at the number of previews on the emote.

Bungie makes very good emotes, but it's not "worth" the effort I have with bright dust bounties. I always have reserves, but in the last two weeks I bought sparrows, a ship and more. That is more important to me.

Sooner or later it will drop by random, chances are good. Apart from that, a huge part of the game is free to play, so Bungie has to make a living.
