Edit: Forgot to mention but it is implied.. the game takes a LONG time to transition to different planets/areas. Sometimes minutes. Even on nVME's.
It is possible that you have to wait for a server to be found by the game. No matter how fast your pc is, you will always have to wait even a little bit.
btw using a SSD also, i7 32gb of ram, good connection.
LOL
Using a GTX 1080 hydro. 3440x1400 resolution, game is smooth and crisp once loaded.
Gigabit down, 50Mb up. No latency in direct connect to the servers. SLIGHT latency when going through a VPN. 6ms vs 20ms on average difference. I usually turn the VPN off for D2.
Latency runs for destiny2 itself at around 60ms. Loading the tower it jumps to 100ms. I can't imagine how on Earth that would cause a 5 minute load. No packet loss. We're not downloading much. During my recent "tower load test" destiny sent up 30KB, and brought down 45KB of data. How 100ms latency would turn that effort at gigabit speeds into 5 minutes is beyond me.
Turned off firewalls, antivirus, antimalware before in an attempt to diagnose the problem. Hell i took routers out and connected directly to my 'modem'. No impact.
128GB of RAM, i7-6850K, making both the CPU and GPU hydro cooled. Temp hasn't been an issue. CPU and GPU are asleep while waiting for the transition. HOWEVER a ton of network activity occurs. The amount of data is laughable (as it should be). The number of IP addresses accessed by the D2 executable is.. 50 during a transition? 2 TCP connections.
It simply takes a LONG time to handshake/sync/server assignment/whatever it's doing.
The load times seem proportional to how many other people are in the area.
It's gotten worse recently.. but still horribly long prior as well.
I just got an nvme ssd with badass speeds, but after trying this game, I was very disappointed...
BTW i have 500 mbit
Rockstar is sad that you've missed their entire collection during your 30 year stint...;-)
Everything after GTA3 was just abysmal in every measure of performance. GTA Online probably inured me to bad loading times for the next 25 years.
