very low damage
i kill faster with austringer LUL
Really great gun IMO, probably not worth using over other exotics for stuff like raids or nightfalls, but boy does it wave clear effortlessly in other activities.
Feels REALLY satisfying in PvP as well. Easy long range 3 tap, softens up people who were unfortunate enough to be by your target... Treat it like a scout and it's really enjoyable.
To elaborate: for PvE I'd only use it for something like the early waves in EP, throughout Blind Well, patrol, and maybe playlist strikes where you can 1-2 shot enemies and start chains easily. It's okay in certain parts of Pit as well, especially for the third encounter, takes 2-3 shots to kill mobs but the chain reactions will take care of a bunch at a time, or at least lower them to one shot levels which will then chain more.
In PvP, I used it for quite a few IB matches tonight and slayed out with it in the maps where long range duels are common. Even without the catalyst I pretty consistently 3 tapped enemies at scout ranges. Damage to supers seemed to be really good as well, but it might have just been the bullet magnetism doing its thing. The only really mediocre part about it was medium to close range where other guns out-TTK you and you can't reach with a shotgun which I paired with it to defend at close range.
I still prefer my sniper/pulse go-to and Suros Regime/shotgun overall, but Grav is a fun little diversion from the norm and I'll probably use it some more.
Also, completing the objectives on its catalyst are a huge pain the ass. Namely, getting kills with the weapon's special effect. For what ever reason the game only counts it if the enemy dies from the DOT rather than the initial explosion.
Go into the shattered throne, go to the shadow thrall room. Fire one bullet and make sure you're the devour spec for warlock. Read a book and be done in 5 minutes.
And what if you're not a Warlock ?
Anyway, just try out new weapons as you get them. Use what you like, don't use what you don't like. Ultimately you can accomplish pretty much whatever you want with whatever weapons you want to use.
Then make a warlock because some things are easier with specific classes. Devour makes it to where you get your full HP back every time you get a kill and the timer is 9 seconds. With as little HP as thralls have and as big as the cosmology explosion is, you literally can stand there dancing and not die.
