Destiny 2
Is there literally no way to start a character from level 1, item level 1?
Because I don't want to start the game at item level 750. I hate that. I have zero interest in a game that forces you to do this just because they want you to catch up to current content (so you can spend money on it, obviously).

Throwing you into the game like this completely killed any interest I had in this game. It is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid not to give new players the option to start completely fresh.

The one in your hands!
Level 750 is now level 1, Bungie wanted to even out how leveling worked, to decrease the number of levels. And since levels do not effect difficulty only increase utility they serve no real purpose but to give you a goal. Since all area's level scale with you anyways what level you are does not matter. Its purely a visual number that has no meaning other then the meaning Bungie gives it.

But trying to explain this to 99% of the games fan base is like talking to a screaming brick wall. Most the people playing here have no concept of rational thought.

Yes, I too want to start from true 0 Light, and grind all the way to 950/960 Light.
Starting at 750 is a great way to get people right into the action. :^)

The game was rebalanced so Light Level 750 IS level 1. All of the basic campaigns and side stuff are for 750. You're not going to be OP going into the game fresh with a 750 character.
If you have your twink you can transfer high-level weapons from one character to another through stash, then after that, you can gain more light level by spawning blue armor sets through collection, and you repeat that until light level stops going up.

Starting you with nothing and forcing you to do the red war (base game) would of done exactly the same thing.
Light level 750 is the new level 1.. If you would start as old level 1, you wouldn't be able to play any content at all without getting one shot by pretty much everything.. Unless you want to spend half a year to level up all the way from 1 to 750, resulting in you losing out on alot of stuff such as event based things.

I totally get where you are coming from on this. While power level 750 is considered to be the "new" level 1, it's definitely not the same experience you'd get when actually playing from a level 1 character.

I have been playing Destiny 2 on PC since its platform beta, and I really enjoyed that early content. Unfortunately there appears to be no way to get an in-game character back to that starting point. On one hand I completely understand why Bungie did it, so that they could streamline the introductory experience for new players and have them be able to play with their friends who may have more advanced characters. But I feel they could have presented this as a character creator option... Like they could ask the question when you create a character "Do you want a streamlined experience or do you want the ground up experience?"

Anyway, thats my 2c on it. I recently deleted one of my characters in order to see what changes, but also to go back and enjoy the story content once more.
Bungie was faced with this...

Have a huge amount of players complaining they need to beat the main campaign to play Shadowkeep and get to a level that needs is required to even play it.

or

Make leveling not a thing anymore and start everyone off at 750, the basis for Shadowkeep.

Personally, this was a horrible move.
it makes literally no difference man its just a number, the game treats 750 as lvl 1 now.
